I recently got a new GPU (6950XT) and my pc gets a white screen (around 2 min) a couple of times a day. yesterday it happened as usual but this time without the white screen and the pc crashed completely. I restarted it and the screen is black and the keyboards light won't turn on, so I don't think it's responsive. I tried different ports and reseted CMOS and used Q-flash to reset BIOS to an older more stable version. The pc now only boots for a couple of minutes and then restarts, stil only a black screen and no light on the keyboard.

Thanks in advance for any ideas or help!

You are waaayyy under-powered for that card.

See this page for power consumption.

You really should have a good 1000w supply for that card. With the 12900k that's a minimum.

Yeah my plan was to change it but not quite so soon, anyways I've now ordered a 1000w Corsair PSU. Do you think that will fix it?

Hopefully the existing power supply did its job and shut down without sending any nasty surge to the card. Either way you should be covered since you just purchased the 6950XT.

yeah hopefully, but I have started it up since the crash, will that do any damage if the psu "crashed"?

you could try getting away temporarily with undervolting I guess

No, only if it blows up. 650W isn't enough for that system fully loaded, but it should be just fine to boot into windows. What brand is that current PSU?
alright, it a Cooler Master

im unsure what you mean by that, like run it but nothing to heavy?

I'd put your old GPU back in to test and see if your PC still functions normally.

Good tip but unfortunately I don't have it anymore, I sold it.

Okay back to the basics. Does you system get to windows or even into the BIOS?

Can you remove the GPU and boot plugged into the displayport on your motherboard? You may need to reset your bios.

unfortunately no, the 12900kf don't have a onboard gpu so if I plug in to the motherboard I won't see anything.

Oh it's a kf, sorry didn't read that.

I just checked with a wall meter. Using a GB Z690 Master + RTX 3080 Ti, it pulls 110 watts during boot (73watts idle in windows). So either your power supply is actual bad, or you have other problems going on. Hard to say. I would remove the video card altogether and see if it stays on after powering it.

okey, ill try that tomorrow, couldn't it be that the BIOS is simply restarting because it wont detect the keyboard or something else? Ive heard that it does that if it detects something is missing.

No, you can boot without a keyboard or mouse. I've forgotten plenty of times. It powering off is concerning though. I would unplug EVERYTHING that isn't needed (all sata, M2, fans, etc). Remove one stick of memory and see what happens. Motherboards can shutdown because of system shorts and that auto shutdown is to prevent damage. Or it could still be just your PSU is bad and it can't keep a load.

It's also possible that your BIOS flashing failed. It might be worth trying again, or to pull the battery out for a bit to make sure it's cleared.

Okey, although when I first got the pc it did the same thing, restarting, until I updated BIOS. Im also getting some error codes on the MOBO, 28 2C 4C 54.

Will the MOBO completely reset if I do that? Like back to the driver it was shipped with? Because if it does that I stil have to update it since it won't work with my RAM.

Code 50~55 means memory initialization error occurs..

Don't know the meaning of the other codes...Perhaps google.

(Note I have a Gigabyte Z690 Aorus Master)

Yeah that’s all I could find aswell, perhaps my Q-flash failed, how important is it to use a USB 2.0 when updating?
