I was wondering if anyone has run across a utility program that can monitor PCI-E specs . . . like slot frequency, latency, slot voltage, buffer length, etc.? Maybe even read packet transfer rates and what not?

I've been digging, but the only programs I've run across can only read buffer length, bandwidth, and Data BUS rate . . . nothing with good OC monitoring info . . .

Same exact type of program I was looking for as well for my motherboard.

I was wanting to find out what my PCI-e frequency was at anything above 187MHz FSB. I have a feeling the PCI-e isn't locked on this mobo when I use ClockGen.

Same here - MBM (Motherboard monitor) used to do most of that job but they shut down. Problem is that each mobo has a monitoring chipset with different protocol, variations, etc... permutations well into the 1000's and no common format/protocol. A lot of work for pretty much nothing.

Other than looking at your BIOS screen, not much of an answer unless you want to write it yourself.

CPUz is about as good as it gets.

True . . . but there are many other monitoring utilities that seem to have even less, or as equal to, of a point . . . frivolity doesn't stop the OCers :D

you mean, sys BIOS, or using a utility to display loaded BIOS? That's always a thought . . .

. . . as long as it's not in HEX. I'd have no problem writing it myself, except . . . it's been almost 10 years since I last wrote any code (aside from webcode), and even longer since I last did any HEX editing . . . not even sure I'd remember anything :(

Too true... think about the number of chipsets, then the number of hardware variations on top of that, ^to the power of the number of hardware monitoring chips. CPUz is what it is. Remarkably, it's pretty darn good. Yea, too bad someone doesn't do what MBM used to do :( Perhaps there's a hidden tool out there somewhere or some crazy bastard wanting to make it.

or some crazy bastard wanting to make it.

 would be me . . . except I've forgotten that in-depth technical knowledge required for such an undertaking! Last time I wrote any serious code, Quake had just been released. <sigh> Oh, well . . . I guess if I ever have the same free time that I did way back then, I might be able to catch up and study coding for the hardware level again . . . but, just to think about it . . . there have been so many architecture changes over the last 10 years . . .

Anyhow, unless someone knows of a utility I haven't run across yet, I'll keep on diggin. Maybe I can find something that at least revolves around ASUS mobos.

Systool does show PCI-e frequency. Read a pinout and stick your multimeter in the right pins for voltage.
