physx card not working

How do I get a PhysX card working? I just installed the latest PhysX drivers and Warmonger and it lags the same if I have it set to no acceleration or Ageia PhysX. The LED and fan only spin for a minute after I boot it up and when I hit reset it spins/lights up for 10 seconds and stops again. I'm thinking this is a software issue but I have no idea.

No idea really, but think I read here that someone got the AGEIA PhysX only working with 8.xx.xxxx series drivers, not the 9.xx.xxxx.

I'm downloading the last Ageia update right now. I never thought of that..

Try a Vantage run with it enabled and without and see if your CPU score goes up.

I did that before and I did not get a jump at all. But I'm pretty sure you have to use Geforce acceleration for it to jump.

Installing Ageia drivers worked. Nvidia drivers never cease to amaze me.

I'll try it. But I don't understand why they would make it so complicated.

Mainly because they write the system software for GPUs now, with the Ageia cards being an afterthought to the point where they don't even really include proper support for them in the current releases.

are they still planning to release updates for the Ageia PPU as i have an old one that i swiped from a dell XPS 410 that has the original Aegia oem Sticker slapped on it and im wondering if slapping it in my Vista 64bit rig with my 4870X2 would give me a nice boost in games like Cryostasis and Mirrors Edge etc

You have to use the Ageia drivers. Nvidia's just simply do not work at all.

They never released one that worked. None of the nvidia drivers work in warmonger or cellfactor. They only run with the last updated ageia one.

They are coming alongside updated 3dFX drivers in 2010 in a alternate dimension near you!!!

im guessing my core question is it really worth it to stick the aegia card in since im using a 4870X2 id really love to see some benches shadowfold if you would be willing say with 3dmark vantage or with mirrors edge etc etc even the cryostasis benchmark would be nice i plan to sell the machine the card is in so if its worth it ill take it out but otherwise ill be selling my old dual core amd 8800gts ageia physx card machine for $200 cash. if that physX card is still usable for a while longer id be willing to keep it around as it would finally pull its wieght for once

Vantage needs GeForce physX and I don't have Mirror's Edge. I have Cryostasis but it doesn't come with a benchmarker.. I runs pretty good with the Ageia drivers, unplayable(because they don't work) with the nvidia.

Cryostasis works with the Ageia drivers... So does the new warmonger and cellfactor.

It worked great with CellFactor and UT3 PhysX maps using a 4870 and the card I sold to Shadowfold.

nice if it works with Cryostasis then theres hope yet for ATI users as ive seen some Aegia Cards going for $50-$75 hahah id hoard them and sell them lol if there still availble hell if i dont miss my guess in games like Mirrors edge and Cryostasis the 4870X2 might beat the GTX 295 with a little Aegia running the physx show lol

i think if im not totally dead from work tomorrow (16hour day) ill install the physx card and run some vantage runs with and without it and see if theres a performance increase thats worth the effort ill also download and try cellfactor and warmonger with and without the ppu and see if the performance in justifiable after all an ati 4870X2 or even a 4870 should get better then 15fps with an i7 or amd 940 + lol if the ageia ppu does that then us ati crowd can finally in a sorta redundant way give nvidia the finger because physX on nvidia only hardware is bullcrap since the xbox 360 and Ps3 both have gpus that are either ati or nvidia yet both can USE physX in many games so why should us PC gamers get shafted

Also, certain drivers with certain cards won't enable physx, you just have to find the proper drivers.
