Should all be fine, a Socket 1151 cooler fits Socket 1200, just be aware that you're cooler may struggle with a 10900k, from the reviews I have read high end cooling is required to even sustain all core turbo boosts at their max let alone any overclocking you may want to do.

Check this out, look at the max turbo temp, you can also see how warm it gets with a small (ish) overclock with a Noctua NH-U12.

You will see on the conclusion page that W1z found a lot of thermal throttling, not sure how your cooler compares with the noctua but I would want something even better than that I think.

Any ideas of an air cooler that would suit.

U12A.

I would also go for the MSI Unify or Ace rather than that board.

Depends really on budget and clearance but some top end ones include the u12A mentioned ^^^...……….

Deepcool Assassin III
Coolermaster MasterAir MA410m
Noctua NH-U14S

I usually stick to Gigabyte Aorus boards how about this one

From what I can see, the power delivery is the same on your 2 boards mentioned so far so unless one has more of the features that you need over the other then prob go for the cheaper of the 2. I have a preference for MSI but only based on my personal experience with them, if you like and trust Gigabyte then that's good, as you get to the higher end a lot of these boards have similar power delivery in any case.

Do note you may need to buy new RAM too if planning to use the Corsair 32GB (4x8) DDR4 Vengeance LPX 3000MHz Memory listed in your system specs. According to the specs in your SCAN motherboard link, that board supports
  • DDR4 - 2133
  • DDR4 - 2400
  • DDR4 - 2666
  • DDR4 - 2933
  • DDR4 - 3200
I don't see 3000MHz there. However DDR4 3000 (O.C) is listed on the Gigabyte site. Verify with the board's QVL (qualified venders list/Memory Support List) your RAM is listed, or RAM with the same specs is listed to ensure compatibility. That CPU is listed in CPU QVL so no problems there.

Also, in terms of software licensing, a new motherboard constitutes a new computer. If your current Windows license is an OEM license, or is an upgrade based on an OEM license, you will need to purchase a new Windows license too as OEM licenses are not "legally" transferable to new computers under any circumstances. But if your current license is a full "Retail" license, or upgraded based on a full "Retail", then you can transfer that license to the new computer as long as you uninstall it from all other computers.

I note the Phantom 410 is a nice case with generous cooling options, but only comes with 2 x 120mm fans (front and rear) and 1 x 140mm blowhole (top) fan. Considering the heat related issues Tatty_One pointed out with that CPU, if you have not already, you might consider replacing the 120mm fans with 140mm where possible and/or adding more fans to increase the desired front-to-back flow of cool air through the case.

Will do thank you all also I like the look of this one

Hi sorry to be a pain but I still can't make up my mind on the CPU cooler, I get all ready to order and then change my mind I need help to choose between these two before my wife strangles me as she keeps on telling me to get it ordered.

If those were my choices, I would go for the D15 simply because it is newer. The D14 is no longer in production and, as seen here, has been replaced by the D15.

HOWEVER - you need to make sure your case will support such a tall cooler. You might also download the installation manual now to make sure you understand, are familiar and are comfortable applying the TIM and mounting the cooler before it arrives.

The total cooler hight is 165mm and I have from the motherboard 175mmand from the installation videos I have watched it looks one of the easiest I have seen to install.

PLEASE NOTE: Unfortunately, due to supplier constraint this product has been delayed further than originally advised. This delay affects all UK retailers. More stock is on the way and we will fulfil current pre orders as soon as we can. We appreciate your patience.

its hard to be patient

Hi just had an e-mail in new estimated date is 14th August, bummer.

Intel 10 Core i9 10900K Comet Lake CPU/Processor

We would firstly like to thank you for your patience in waiting for this chip. We have been in regular contact with Intel and it has become apparent to us that they will not be able to meet the most recent forecast of 14/08/20. We are seeking to gain accurate information but do not have a new lead date. As soon as we know, we will update you via our automated messaging service.

Latest update, what is going on.

Probably, at least in part, COVID-19.

Can you get a refund? There are still some suppliers with them in stock, for example ..................

or this is cheaper..............

It's complicated. Your cooler is fine, but the CPU itself is designed to boost higher with better cooling. It's up to you to decide how much legroom you want/need to give it.

I think I will just wait as I usually use Scan and i have the three items under a Scan 28 day insurance from when they are delivered against accidents or damage while installing the items, as sometimes I can be a bit clumsy.

Is it just that one comes in a fancy box.
