its funny how ppl are willing to pay a lot to get some sequential R/W (e-pen) numbers,
but are fine with Q1 randoms, my 120GB OCZ Vector could do 10y ago, on sata.

Interesting so it's not just modern cpus inflating the random read numbers on my P1600X, it actually is faster at random reads than the 900/5p. Im getting 420MB/s QD1 reads but I have 13th gen. Do you know if AMD is hindering your scores or not? That's the only other explanation I can think of besides it actually being faster which is weird seeing how much more expensive those drives are than the 1600x.

It used to be gimped on AMD (x470) somewhat, but I've found its usually within 10% variance on AM5, its just that by far Optane p1600x is the faster drive at 4k read and 4k writes vs 900p (and I have my 900p connected to an m.2 slot straight to the CPU)...

However as you know Optane at 4k is leaps and bounds above any other SSD's even now …..

I was thinking about adding a p1600x in my daughters AMD x570 pc so it would be interesting to compare....

Yeah true altho the p5800x is a bit better overall even randomly. It has roughly the same reads but much more symmetrical random writes and it scales with higher queuedepths better too. Then again it's also like 15-50x more expensive lmao. Either way id definitley recommend you get one for ur daughter as an OS drive and pagefile i cant recommend it enough really. You also get the enterprise power loss protection which iirc means it has capicators on the drive that work as mini batteries to finish writing data in the case of sudden power loss which is pretty cool imo, all optanes are much better with power outages because they can write over an order of magnitude faster but only the optanes starting with a P get the batteries fyi. I got mine for like $85 aud from amazon which is like $50 USD which is such a steal so if u can get it for a similar price i'd go for it.

My new ssd, hopefully for many years, this thing benches great. Not really a surprise because its a 8-channel Phison E18, 176-layer 3D NAND disk but i never owned something this fast.
IRDM PRO 2TB, probably not very know in the USA.

Yessir. Unlike the extremely cache reliant nand ssds optane scales as you'd expect. Absolutely pathetic that my nand ssd gets 90mbs reads,360MBs writes but only like 110MB/s mix. The illusion of them being high performance really fades with that one.

With optanes ur mix is just like the mid point between the read and write speed lmao
