Benchmark Scores (My Windows daily driver is a Beelink Mini S12. I'm not interested in benchmarking.)
The ASUS corporate website recommends an 850 W power supply for the TUF Gaming GeForce RTX 3080 Ti OC (I have this card in my primary gaming build). My 3080 Ti peaks at 359 W with the factory overclock in graphics benchmarks; it's closer to 355 W during actual gaming sessions.

As Mussels says, OP's current PSU should be fine for the cards he has proposed. That said, OP should consult each manufacturer's product pages for a more authoritative recommendation.

Considering your first post and this post dont state what PSU you have, i guess it's the one in your specs?
If you can run a 3080, you can run anything else. the power difference from a 3080 to a 3090 isn't that large

Unless you get a 3090Ti or buy a card that specifically has raised power limits, you're fine

View attachment 255218

with my system spec..... today, i am still using seasonic gx 850 80+ gold, from last year.....

because, I'm still very worried, about peak power draw from rtx 3080-90....

no, i am will not using rtx 3090 ti 24gb.....

because, right now..... some type of rtx 3090 24gb NON TI, has become under USd 1600 in my country, meanwhile average price of rtx 3090 ti 24gb in my country, still around USD 2000....

The ASUS corporate website recommends an 850 W power supply for the TUF Gaming GeForce RTX 3080 Ti OC (I have this card in my primary gaming build). My 3080 Ti peaks at 359 W with the factory overclock in graphics benchmarks; it's closer to 355 W during actual gaming sessions.

well, in their website....

  1. System Space for 3-slot card required
  2. 2 x PCIe 8-pin supplementary power connectors
  3. Minimum 750W or greater system power supply
but, my msi rtx 3080 10gb trio gaming z, has 3x8pin and TDP 370w.....i dont know why MSI has bigger power limit than FE rtx 3090 24gb non TI, eventhough their performance (rtx 3080 10gb) is much lower than FE rtx 3090 24gb NON TI......

Agree with Mussels here. I run 1080 Ti (yeah yeah an older card) with a 550W PSU, my point is that a good quality unit is fine, even a lower wattage one.

You don't need a kilowatt PSU for that.

  6. galax/kfa2 rtx 3090 24gb sg oc, 2x8 pin, recommended PSU 750w

MSI, say, all its will be fine.... the other say like that too, but on the other hand, they say that seasonic gx 850w 80+ gold, is still not enough for rtx 3090 24gb..... because, they say, that i have to upgrade into psu 1000w gold, (i have prefered to choose corsair)....

but, if i am using psu 1000w, is that corsair rmx/rme psu 1000 80+ gold, is still good 100% for asus/msi rtx 3090 ti 24gb tuf gaming oc/black trio..... ??

its very confusing......

NB : the average price of some rtx 3090 24gb and rtx 3090 ti 24gb, especially ASUS and MSI, has fallen to the almost low in my country....

You have a CPU that cant go beyond 140W
You can find out the max wattage of any GPU you're looking for - not from those useless charts, but from looking up the actual GPU or it's BIOS

you can buy a wall meter and investigate what your PC already uses

You could just... buy a GPU and see if it works?

some people who is telling me, that not to using my current PSU, they say like that, because rtx ampere high end, all gpu has very high transient power spike, especially all rtx 3090 series.....

they say, that i must not using psu 1000w gold anymore, but for very safe, i must using psu 1200w gold for all rtx 3090 24gb series and TI series......

after watching this video, gpu power spike draw from rtx 3090 24gb and TI 24gb, high as 600-700w for few mili micro seconds....

If you have issues, you'll get coil whine or the PSU will just shut down

wattage guides are always super vague because you can get total dogshit PSU's. A 500W good PSU will match an 800W garbage one.

They should take a hard look in the mirror... Very carefully line up their right palm with their nose. Smack said snout as hard as possible until the stupid runs away. Piss poor advise giving should cease for the next 6 to 8 weeks. :D
Saying you should substitute any old 1000w gold psu with any old 1200w gold psu to avoid transient spikes is ignorant.

If you stay within the recommended wattage for a 3090, (850-1000w depending on the rest of your gear) and buy a high quality unit built within the last few years (purchase from a high volume seller), you will be fine.
Seasonic gx, px, prime or wait for Vertex. Corsair rm, hx. Evga g6, g7. Be quiet! SP 11 or DPP 12. Superflower leadex III gold, plat, titan (to mention a few). Should all be free of transient issues.

TUF/TUF OC 3090 (one I have) will work on a 850W supply without issues. Especially one as good as a Seasonic. My secondary rig has a lowly 850 BQ - it still works perfectly fine.

Don`t worry about a thing, especially if you are targeting the 3070 Ti.

1.

  1. asus rtx 3090 24gb tuf gaming oc, 2x8 pin, recommended PSU 850w
  2. asus rog rtx 3090 24gb strix oc, 3x8 pin, recommended PSU 850w
  3. msi rtx 3090 24gb suprim x, 3x8 pin, recommended PSU 850w
  4. msi rtx 3090 24gb trio gaming x, 3x8 pin, recommended PSU 750w
  5. gigabyte rtx 3090 24gb gaming oc, 2x8 pin, recommended PSU 750w
so, its still safe 100% that my PSU still strong for taming that all rtx 3090 24gb series (not for TI 24gb).....

NB :why, i am very concern about this....

well, because i had trauma, a very long time ago.... when i have Phenom 4 955 + 2x4gb ddr3 + 3 hdd 7200rpm (old, not this one) + corsair vx 550....
using nvidia gtx 260 is safe, upgrade into gtx 275 (some people just say, its safe using corsair vx 550w) , only a week, suddenly my PC dead, cant boot with gtx 275, bring it up into PC repair service, my gtx 275 just become smoke, its burn (yes there is a very litte burn in PCB).... RMA.... change its new gtx 275, my pc can playing pc games again, but another week is dead again....

so, upgrade into gtx 465 (some people just say, its safe using corsair vx 550w), but, just another months, my pc is dead again.... RMA, i have get new gtx 465, another weeks my PC is dead.... so, i sell it (after RMA again, change it with new gtx 465), and then using old gts 250, because retired from pc gaming .....

2.
anyway, in my country today, the price of msi rtx 3080 10gb = US$ 650, the price of msi rtx 3090 24gb = US$ 1300,

but their different performance average is only 5-15%..... OMG.....i am very confused about that.....

Nowadays quality PSUs have undervoltage, overvoltage, overcurrent, and short-curcuit protection. I see no reason to worry, just get a 850W PSU from a good manufacturer like already mentioned.

1.

  1. asus rtx 3090 24gb tuf gaming oc, 2x8 pin, recommended PSU 850w
  2. asus rog rtx 3090 24gb strix oc, 3x8 pin, recommended PSU 850w
  3. msi rtx 3090 24gb suprim x, 3x8 pin, recommended PSU 850w
  4. msi rtx 3090 24gb trio gaming x, 3x8 pin, recommended PSU 750w
  5. gigabyte rtx 3090 24gb gaming oc, 2x8 pin, recommended PSU 750w
so, its still safe 100% that my PSU still strong for taming that all rtx 3090 24gb series (not for TI 24gb).....

The smallest power supply I've attempted to run my RTX 3090 TUF OC with is an EVGA 850 BQ, which despite the capacity is a rather basic unit.

It worked fine. What you must keep in mind is that it's a GPU designed to pull up to 375 W, and thus you will want the current and overdraw room to match. If you're dropping such fat stacks on a GPU, why not buy a better power supply now and wait just a little longer for Nvidia's re-launch of the RTX 4080 12GB? It's probably going to be called RTX 4070 and they're going to have to adjust the price downwards a bit due to the name. Good luck

Recommended just means that quality PSUs in that weight category will handle the graphics card's power demands.

This really doesnt leave any questions left to ask, you're after answers no one can give.
No one can tell you what wattage is correct because every single PSU is different
Every GPU is different
Every 3080 is different to every other 3080

Get a PSU that can handle the biggest spikes at peak for the entire system, and you're fine. The end.
