Prerequisite Modifier for Steam

This program is for when game developers put instructions for Steam that it fails to execute so it keeps on trying, and trying, and trying.

Valve should have added common redist installscripts back when they launched but they didn't and haven't since. Developers have to include them because Valve didn't.

Added Far Cry Primal to the list.

This looks like a good little tool, but there are no vdf files anywhere in my Steam library. Maybe Steam changed the system in past or something?

Wait, you made this? Good job. I'll check it out later.

One thing I really hate is one of the Batman games installs an Athlon CPU app (regardless of what you CPU you have). And it's a pain to uninstall (it's hit and miss and has locked up sometimes). This is evil! Seriously.

No? Each game folder under steamapps\common has at least one VDF. It's how developers tell Steam how to behave (what prerequisites need to be installed, should there be multiple choices when the game launches, does the game require admin rights, and so on).

I think Star Control: Origins is the newest game I have and there's at least one VDF:

I might have gotten rid of all that by using Steam cleaner or what the name is.
I'll try reinstalling all games I have, heh.

Hm, nope.

"Steam cleaner" could have deleted them but it shouldn't have. They only amount to like 1 MB for your entire Steam library.

Well the above pic is after I reinstalled four games. Still nothing.
Maybe the file is not mandatory or something?

"reinstalled" would mean redownload and the VDFs are something it would definitely redownload. The game can't be installed/repaired without them. I wouldn't be surprised if every game you run is throwing a hidden error (blahblah.vdf file not found).

Anywho, if the games are working fine, Prerequisite Modifier for Steam is not needed. If you do run into a game that has install issues (like trying to install something everytime it runs), verify the game integrity in Steam to make Steam retrieve the VDF file, point Prerequisite Modifier for Steam at it, then use it to fix the registry issue.

I completely deleted all files first and then reinstalled the games from scratch. The files simply aren't present. All my games install and run just fine. No errors in Eventlog either.

Added Dungeons to the table and updated the table to use the new XenForo markup so it displays as a table again.

No surprise here but the sequel to Dungeons, Dungeons: The Dark Lord also has problems with VC2010. Added to the list and also added the name of the faulting VDF to Dungeons.
