problems with 960

I've been having problems with my evga 960 when I first turn my pc on at the log in screen starts flashing black. when I unplug my hdmi cable and plug it back in it works fine, only seems to do it when I first start my pc but not all the time. is it time for a new one? I was thinking of upgrading anyway but I cant afford it right now, I can only afford a 1060 right now. is it worth replacing it, is the flashing of the screen sign of a dying gpu?

if you have the money for the upgrade.... just go for it, GTX 1060 might match close a GTX 980 on several games, is a quite terrific card... also used cards are great deal GTX 980 ti will do ultra fine!

I was in the middle of saving for a 1080ti but I got $300 saved so far for it, but with the problems I had a few times maybe its time. I was thinking it might have been the last update from 381.65.

nope haven't checked, I wont think its worth the trouble sending it in, so maybe a upgrade to a 1060 is more worth it

you must, if GTX 960 still on warranty and could be RMA, you might a new one or the equivalent which is gonna be a GTX 1060

I hope he doesn't pick the gimped 3GB one... Shit even Dirt Rally with the works is pushing 3GB on the Vram at only 1080P.

There might be nothing wrong with your 960.
I have a similar problem on my 950 and a 4K Samsung display. I am using a DP interface, and had occasional flashing screen/black screen at startup.
Sometimes I turn my monitor a few degrees for a better view, and because of that a DP cable tends to wiggle out of the socket just a little bit, even though it seems completely plugged in and has built-in clamps to "prevent" this thing from happening in the first place... So sometimes at startup my monitor fails to initialize. I may even see the BIOS screen flashing for a second, and then nothing.
Once I firmly mounted both DP connectors and adjusted the cable to reduce its movement, the problem went away.
