May i say, using 2 PSU's is a stupid idea? why not just buy a single 650watt for a PC?
Borrow a single PSU that is capable of running the system by itself, then test that.

Not really. There is nothing wrong with it. This powersupply is specifically made to run like that. And its not my computer he bought the parts not me. I would have bought a 550w corsair.

And these are the connections available on the toughpower psu fyi.

The 450w powersupply he has is definitely not 450w.

I thought this might be another issue, what's the make and model etc? I'm guessing it case with the case.

The brand is called power master. It doesnt even have the specs of the psu on the side. Im thinking that with the added power of the gts 250 withdrawing all the 75w from the pci-e lane compared to the 20w from the hd 5450 is causing the crashes. Im buying him a new powersupply this weekend.

Good plan, i genuinly think this will solve it, and good luck with it.

I haven't seen a GPU dedicated PSU for a long time. That's pretty cool, actually.
Back in the day when you ran extreme setups there were PSUs sold that only powered video cards, that's what this looks like for all the people asking why he is running dual PSUs.

As for your DOTA 2 issue, maybe the GTS 250 is insufficient for this game. It's still in beta and I don't know if there are any official minimum systems specs that have been released.
Or the GTS 250 could be crapping out because it's pretty old.

Problem fixed! Powersupply as I thought. I bought him a GTX 650ti while I was at it aswell. The powersupply was a 650w Widetech "650W The Max" which only had 30amps on THE SINGLE 12v rail. What a joke.

All is good :)

Yep, I bought one just incase. 650W, Thermaltake. It can handle ANYTHING! :toast:
