QOTW: do you still overclock your PC?

I don't spend as much time overclocking as I used to. Now it's mostly pushing the hardware to the extreme when I get it to see how far it will go, then finding a balaced overclock for 24/7 use.

Then it just sits at those clocks until something better comes out (actually it has to be significantly better these days).

I push my newer hardware to the limits a couple times, and then I start slowly taking it down to a reasonable level that still gives me performance I need, but with low temps and voltage.

For instance, my 970 has been up well over 4GHz, but now I'm running a mild 3.5GHz with RAM at 1834MHz 8-8-8-24 1T and it is more than enough for my daily work and occasional gaming. My 69x0's have all been OC'd to the limit and back as well. I've actually destroyed a few of those on accident.

Either way I'm no hardcore overclocker. I just like to tinker

I've had my sandy rig for around 2 months now, and have yet to overclock it properly, i set it to 4.2GHz and left it, i'll get round to seeing how far it can go at some point, but couldn't be arsed with all the stability testing as Battlefield 3 had just come out at the time, now its skyrim...next month maybe?

I voted NO. Not because I think it's a dying hobby, but because I just don't do it anymore.
If I had the parts and the time, sure (plus it's easy nowadays).
Another thing that is keeping me from doing it is the electricity bill. It's getting more expensive by the month. :ohwell:
