Quadro M4000M doesn't work with new driver [Resolved]

Hello Everyone.

I have a MSI GT70 project laptop (it means my second laptop) and the original GTX880M VGA was broken (probably it was overheated)
I bought a Quadro M4000M and I inserted this VGA in this laptop (with new thermal pad and paste), it is working well and the system recognized it but unfortunately, only
the old driver could detect it, the new drivers doesn't detect the VGA. I tried to modify the codes in the "nv_dispwi.inf" but I am just confused with it.
I wanted to install the Nvidia 516.94 version, it says (the website of nivida) it is compatible with this card. Unfortunately, the old driver doesn't work with new games and other apps.
I didn't do the VBIOS update because it seems stable and good, but if it is necessary I can do it.
Does anyone know the correct code or another solution? I'm kinda struggling with this...

Thank you for your help! :)

Game ready drivers doesn't support QUADRO GPUs. Also 516.94 doesn't work either.

For Quadro M4000M, you have to install NVIDIA RTX / Quadro Desktop and Notebook Driver Release 473.81 - WHQL release date: Tue Aug 02, 2022

Yes, I have tried that one as well, but it was unsuccessfully.

Have you uninstalled previous drives with DDU before you try 473.81?

No, I didn't do that yet.
However, I was looking for the "m4000m" in the "nv_dispwi.inf" to change the codes but I just found only "M4000" so it means probably for notebooks.
I was looking for the same codes but they are not in this inf. file... Maybe I am doing something wrong. I will delete the old driver and disable auto update from windows.
I used a driver booster when the laptop was installed and it is installed the nvidia aswell. I guess it will work only with INF modding but let's see soon how it will be.

I'm using an old driver for GPU recognition and than update the driver ( normal install, if you choose custom install and check the clean install option, this won't work ) later, this mostly works.

I tried again but unsuccessfully. The driver can not find the VGA. I used the DDU and it's removed the old VGA driver completely, but only the old driver detect the VGA,
which is not installed now. How do I continue now? I tried to modify the INF but I probably did something wrong. If someone can help me to make it correctly
it would be really appreciated. I read it is mandatory to modify it because the VGA has been changed.

This is the latest driver I can find or that card: https://www.nvidia.com/Download/driverResults.aspx/192043/en-us/

However, it depends on the card itself. This was taken from a laptop most likely and some manufacturers like to mess with the IDs, which can make cards invisible to anything, but official drivers from the manufacturer's website.
I believe you should concentrate on the drivers above. If you need to add some IDs in the list, I'm afraid I cannot help.

It is quite strange because I checked the INF on this latest driver aswell, but I just can not find M4000M. I do find M4000 which means maybe the card is not supported by that nvidia driver.
What is worked, it was the 359.23 version which is quite old and doesn't support anything. Here is what I found and he could make it work.

I uninstalled VGA drivers for a Quadro Laptop GPU - it would not install them later. I ended up rebooting several times and it reinstalled the old ones automatically. I would attempt to install new drivers through Windows Update instead.

It is disabled and there is no any driver on the VGA right now and it will not be updated automatically because I am afraid it will again install the old one.
If I will type the correct INF code, it should work. But still struggling to get it right. My abilities is not so strong for this,
but I do like to learn.

So you mean maybe this card is really not supported anymore and it might be better if I order another one for this laptop?

If it received a driver update this month, then it is supported. I just don't know if it's a standard part, or something the OEM messed with.

Oh yes, Windows Update, that's also an option.

It is done. I had to modify the value of 13F1 to 13F9 on all numbers.
Thank you anyway for the suggestions! (Y) :)

Very strange the ID was missing, yet the card is still mentioned as supported. Since it works, it's obviously supported. Maybe someone at Nvidia messed up compiling the list of IDs.
Anyway, glad that you sorted it out, now go ahead and enjoy you victory ;)

Yes, it was missing. I had to change the M4000 to M4000M also... They have probably forgotten about this one.
Everything works fine, furmark test is also great.

Yeah, I looked them up. 13F1 is M4000 (desktop), 13F9 is M4000M (mobile).
I was just saying, it's strange that they forgot it in the INF, but included the M4000M in the supported products list. Big boo-boo.
Nice to hear it's all working fine.
