Wikipedia said:
As of April 2007, three months after the release of Windows Vista, the latest driver for the GeForce 8 series does not take full advantage of the hardware, whereas nVidia's chief competitor, ATI, has already released drivers that take full advantage of the hardware, albeit for DirectX 9-based cards.

According to this Nvidia's drivers 'still' don't take full advantage of the hardware
But ATI's drivers 'do' take full advantage of the hardware :D
BUT,
According to the 'current' (not to be confused with the final R600 product release)
Radeon HD 2900XTX vs 8800GTX performance results show that G80 besides of having not-so-good drivers beats the R600. ( )
But here's the twist, these results are of the incomplete card, right ? SO, even if they can make the final R600 perfect, by that time nvidia's drivers would atleast be able to take most advantage of the hardware! So, R600 maybe doomed (but I hope not), even if it was the beta card's benchmarks... ATI has to come-up with something

Well if we compare the results of the 2900XT and the 2900XTX they are very similar... this could indicate that the test system used for the 2900XTX wasn't good enough to take full advantage of this giving these unexpected results

I think we need to wait till the cards are released and proper testing can be done

Don't believe the Wiki.

The only way to confirm any benchmarks is to wait for some highend dx10 game (or 3dmarks07), and test them on their preferred chipset.

I thought tomshardware already reported that chipset doesn't matter in performance on an average scale.
Also 3dmark07 isn't that near :( And until then 8800GTX will remain the king

Let me get this straight, you're basing this "news" on a Wikipedia post?

As I understood it, the tests were carried out on an XP system, and I thought the Geforce drivers for XP were OK?

Well lets also add to the wiki that ironically the XT performed the same as the XTX...and i doubt ati want you to pay another 200 bucks (or more) just to get a longer card...

And the XT preformed very well, even better midrange card than the GTS...

Its wiki

It's good on some stuff I agree but
The GeForce Zelda Series, or codename G80, is the eighth generation of NVIDIA's GeForce graphics cards

The time i realized those benchmarks were fake was when the XT was beating the XTX. seriously guys.......

ya lets all chill out and think R600 wins this battle !?? I can't w8 that long, some1's gotta give us answers...

wiki is a user based encyclopedia, ie anyone can post anything on it lol.

We can't draw any real conclusions until they release the card. Lets hold off until it starts hitting the shelves.

dude, grow up, honestly, your basing your oppenion on 1 "review" that was clearly flawed, and a wikipedia post.

maby you dont understand WTF wikipedia is, a wiki is editable by ANYBODY, thus i could go edit the g80 post saying it was slower then the x1300 cards, corse u would say that was a lie(because it is) but i could still edit it to say that.

and the g80's current drivers arent yet gold level, the vista drivers are PATHETIC!!!!!!

Dear god not MORE R600 BS. I seriously think all R600 news should be banned from the forums nless it can be proven the news is from a reliable source and accurate, thats how fed up I am of this R600 rumor nonsence.

Nvidia Propaganda.

It's the game they all play.

Nuff said.

i just wan't too see the r600 pwn everything and see the fanboys cry :P

The difference between the X2900XT and the X2900XTX is the extra 512ram ( 1024 total ) and the use of the DDR4. Thus making it 200$ more expensive than the lower end model.
Either way ATI is doomed when it comes to the X2900XT, however the X2900XTX should be a great card for 24+ inch LCDs.

The main feature of the R600 is its wireless hook up and that it uses USB port insted of pci e
plus it is 100% natural peanut butter goodness ;)

me too :p I was a loong ATI fanboy but since ati just let us all down, I'm temporarily going nVidia, just to test the 8800GTS

this was never a news, btw I'm sure some fanboy wrote that stuff :shadedshu
that page needs editing...I'll remove that shit from there, now I have to register in wikipedia :ohwell:

exactly who the hell cares if it don't get 120 fps in dx9 all games tested that i seen so far run at more then acceptable frames.

the catch for nvidia is how does it go down when dx 10 comes out maybe ati spent less time trying to make the card run dx9 good and more time optimizing for dx 10 there fore if the r600 pwns the 8xxx series in dx10 it will thrive as these cards are not claiming to be the worlds greatest dx 9 cards and we all know nvidias midrange and low end cards are BY FAR not there strong point

 IM NOT LISTENING!!! LA LA LA!!! ATI IS BETTER!!! LA LALA LA LA!!!

:respect: ATI:respect:

I don't care what anything says. The r600 series will beat the g80 series. I'm not gonna believe anything until the final product is released.

don't worry, I'm sure ATI will make it somehow :)..i hope...

The apocalypse of video cards will come May 14, 2007.

Let all ATI fans cross their fingers.
