I believe it is a reference design, but I'm not 100% certain. The power limit is maxed at 115% rather than 130%.

That is set by bios; i'm sure you still can increase it using MPT.

I was just looking up benchmarks of the 6750XT and the 7700XT from a few different reviewers and the difference didnt seem to be much, yes slower but not by alot.

Anyway it turned up today and installed and ran a few games and im pretty impressed! lets say it runs Hogwarts Legacy Maxed out settings NO RT and at 1440P and it was getting around 85fps just running around inside, compared to the old 1080 TI which struggled to get much over 40fps by memory, so big difference!

Is PTM7950 any better than MX-6? I don't think so. Unlikely. MX-6 is an excellent performer and is not expensive. Just go with it. You'll be glad you did.

Now my RX 6700 XT is officially in 24/7 torture mode.

Sold my 4K TV and bought a 4K monitor with literally £25 difference. So far so good, Cyberpunk at med-high settings + XeSS Quality (FSR is not worth consideration in this particular game) runs at high 40s/med 50s and thanks to Freesync, it's butter smooth.

Don't have anything else that's remotely close in terms of system requirements but it's temporary.

Ok I've been running MW3 on my 6750 XT. The boost clock is hitting 2706mhz. At around 52 degrees hot spot 62. Looks great and it's smooth looking. Is it normal for it to go above it's boost clock on the gpu.

It was actually quite impressive to see ~200W power draw (and considering how RDNA2 shows power consumption, it's more like 250W real) while the card was still at ~60C core, ~84C junction lol.

Your PTM does the job better than mine. I have ~100C hotspot in 3DMark at similar wattages. XFX Speedster 6700XT SWFT309 with 92 mm case fans instead of the OG ones (OG fans are a bit less efficient).

I've heard it can be a lottery to get "the good stuff". I got lucky probably.

The NT-H1 I used previously worked wonders, but it took no time to pump-out and see >95C hotspot again, so I just decided to go for PTM and not have to worry about repasting.

That's up to you to decide. You can expect roughly 30-50% increase in performance.

If you got a sweet deal on your 5700 XT or you desperately need a new GPU then it's obviously worth it. But as a guy who upped from a 1080 Ti (mostly the same performance level as 5700 XT) I'd recommend you going for something beefier. 7800 XT or 6950 XT, whatever is cheaper.
