Rare GPUs / Unreleased GPUs

R( 290X Matrix Platinum shroud looks similar to the asus matrix gtx 980 ti but a different color scheme looked like silver and orange hear the pictures of the one I am getting

Jeez how you get it that cheap you must haggled the life out of the person to let it go that low
The guy actually just wanted to give that card a new home :) got a rare GTX 660 3GB (GK104) as well with it.

Nice the pictures I uploaded shows the white sticker waiting to be poked with a screw driver

What are the chances of getting a rare graphic card that never been tampered with that like 50000 to 1 chance as others I have seen already tampered with or breaking something in the process.

If the graphic card works after doing deep cleaning I might even further improve the cooling for the backplate as seen a few videos with the asus strix 980 missing thermal pads at the back of it thinking I might measure the height of the plate and determine to get 1.5mm maybe 1mm pads to cover the full length of the pcb to prolong the life of the card as well keeping dust bunnies away as possible. Just have to wait and see

Just to my surprise it here with me with the original box and cables and just before my birthday tomorrow it like the best present I ever wanted and got it

You got its original box? Noiiiice... I got with 7970 but not with 290X, damn.

Just abit of news on the progress after tearing down the card for cleaning and the thermal paste was soo bone dry barely touch it and it crumbled so new paste mx-6 applied and went to test it it boots but as soon it go to the operating system I see green lines everywhere on the screen as soon I move the cursor it disappears in sections so my question is it the memory fail or the gpu failed. What concerning me is the fans not even spinning on start up. Checked the gpuid I see memory spec is 0 or not showing details. Even tried to reflash the bios it won't even flash even with correct commands.

And last thing I checked for memory issue according to mats/mods memory test it appears to E1 and F0 memory chips either failed or disconnected from the pcb board possible from a fall or something like thermal stress making the solder balls break. I know that memory chips can be got along with the gpu chip easily enough from aliexpress or donor boards but don't have the equipment to do it. Going to have to find some company in Ireland that can do reball or reflow

Looks like a sad day for the Asus matrix gtx 980 ti platinum refused to work can't even boot with another graphic card. Don't know if the bios is borked or dead but it a showcase on my desk for now with two broken fans. Oh well it was fun while it lasted

Never know might make a hybrid of it with something else

Tried one last ditch in recovering the Asus matrix vbios as the external bios flash would read, write, read back and erase no problem but the card won't respond from that so had an idea so I bridged temporary sop8;pin 1 to 4 with tiny wire and hold the safe mode button and boot it up got to the operating system then release the wire then force flash the stock vbios back on by nvflash successfully if the graphic card was still in safe mode while the wire is touching it blocks the vbios from flashing. But still the same artifacting issue managed to get one of the fans working but thinks both fans needs replacing due to high temps they experienced resulting non working fans

Jeez someone must have sold their house to buy that world most expensive graphic card ever sold

Since I gathered up the cost of getting memory chips, gpu chip and replacement fans from aliexpress give or take €120 and the cost of reballing/replacing/fixing is about €150 I think it be worth the chance to get it working again as it such a nice looking graphic card and rare in Ireland as well I keep it for a few years

it was sold in america I think not sure about taxes I say about $1500 or more could be wrong

The Voodoo 5 6000 was $15000 when it was first sold!? Damn that's like $30k or more now. You could buy a nice used car for that much.

As long as the Voodoo 5 6000 is, I'll bet there are Nvidia 4xxx cards that are longer.

Was the Voodoo 5 6000 the first multi-GPU videocard?

Not at all. There was the infamous Voodoo 5 5500 that were both made in AGP and PCI.

I had an AGP version up until a year or so ago. Had some help and sold it on EBay.

@Edwired
did ya check if the ln2 solder points are connected?

No, not even close. The one that just sold at auction is $15,000. V5 6000 wasn't sold for anything because it never officially released. The first price record for a Voodoo 5 6000 was $800 around 2002.

Was the Voodoo 5 6000 the first multi-GPU videocard?

Absolutely not. ATi had the Rage Fury MAXX the same year that the 6000 was announced and 3Dfx's own spin-off Quantum3D offered the X-24 in 1998.

Having a hard time debating whether I go for the Asus matrix gtx 980 fans with the original Asus stickers on the matrix 980ti platinum or go with the replacement fans without the sticker or has the strix sticker as can't find the original platinum version. The fan part number are somewhat the same
Another one same blade design in this link

Just updating on the fans replacement and memory chips they are ordered now so it could be the end of march to arrive as well I found another pcb repair service that can do components swap at a reasonable price of €35 I spoken to the guy who own the company that I will have the memory chips with the graphic card to save them the hassle in finding it and it can be fixed in three hours and 3 days turnaround with me sending it and they sending it back included. So I hope the graphic card can be saved and preserved :)

Bought one of these. I have been looking for navi hbm, Radeon Pro v520... hard to come by and expensive. There was a mining version of the v520 bx xfx (bc160). Hoping its navi hbm but its listed as gddr5 so who knows. The Radeon r9 285x's I bought were listed as rx 570's so theres that.
