Creating a thread guidelines of this Forum:

  • This forum is provided as a community service. We are not responsible for any transactions or losses that result from postings in this forum.
  • Advertising the sale of illegal items, such as but not limited to narcotics, pornography, and other items deemed illegal, will result in said post being deleted and poster being immediately banned. Authorities may be notified of the poster's IP address as well.
  • No Dealers, Merchants or Resellers. This forum is for private deals only.
  • No links to auctions or other sites. (retailers, resellers, manufacturers, or eBay)
  • You can not sell OEM operating systems or software unless you include the computer it came with.
  • No engineering samples.
  • Trade, buy or sell only goods that physically exist. No virtual items such as software licenses or WoW accounts. Items that can be sold on TechPowerUp can only be items that fit within this website such as but not limited to computer and gaming hardware. No asking for handouts please.
  • Game and software keys can be given away for free only. This applies to gift card codes too.
  • Don't post if you do not have physical possession of items for sale. You must have the items in your possession to sell them.
  • As a courtesy to others, if you have sold your items, or the items are no longer available, please post so in your thread so needless inquiries are not made.
  • Once a sale is final, edit the first post saying the item is sold.
  • Required 24 hour time period between seller post bumps
  • No "Free Ipod" stuff or other referral links.
  • Post a picture of your physical item (not a link that takes users off site, embed the actual image or use the attachment feature) you are selling/trading, along with your TechPowerUp forums account name handwritten (Not typed or printed!) on a piece of paper in the background. This is to validate that there is an item being sold and that you are the seller. -Have your pictures ready before you post your thread! No pics, don't post or your thread will be deleted.
  • "Feeler" threads, or threads to "check the interest of item(s)" are not acceptable. No pre-sale threads. No listing items that will be for sale in the future.
  • Please remember to insert a link to your heatware if you are selling an item. This is also to validate you are a valid seller. If you don't have a heatware, please read all about how to get one below. This is required! WTB threads do not require heatware!
  • No sales, WTB or trade dialogue is to take place in any public forum (including profile posts), all transactions/requests should be made in the B/S/T forum for transparency and to safeguard both parties. If members wish to discuss B/S/T outside of the B/S/T forum they do so at their own risk and must be done by private messaging.

If you are confused as to what your thread should look like, please take a look at LiNKiN's FS/FT thread.

Please use appropriate tags in front of your thread title:

For Sale: [FS]
To Buy:[WTB]
Trade: [FT]
Giveaway: [FF]
Region of the seller/buyer: [US][CA][UK][GE] (United States, Canada, United Kingdom, Germany, etc)
Include your geographical location in the first post so people can have a guess at shipping costs.
FS/FT posts need to always include the type of post in the title (FS, FT, WTB) along with your location (US, CA, UK, DE, etc). We are a multi-national forum and this formatting of titles will make doing business here easier.
Please, no asking for handouts/free stuff.

An example of a proper title would be:

[FS/FT][US] item name + details, item name + details

Getting your thread title changed.

If you need your thread title changed, the fastest and easiest way to get your thread title changed is to PM a moderator who moderates that section along with a note on what you want the thread title changed to. Do NOT use the report button for these matters.

When posting in B/S/T, you must follow these guidelines:

Only post in a B/S/T thread if you are...
1) Bumping the thread. (Once every 24 hours for sellers)
2) Interested in the item and asking a question only.

Don't do these things in FS/FT threads:
1) Argue over whether prices are fair, or...
2) ...say that something else is cheaper elsewhere.
3) Argue with other members.
4) Negotiate the price of an item you want to buy. This should be done through private messages.

If you come across a thread where these guidelines are violated or are not followed, please report the post to alert the moderators. Do not take it upon yourself to correct other members in the B/S/T section threads!
These guidelines will be strictly enforced, with infractions resulting for repeat violations.

You must wait 14 days before posting in the Buy/Sell/Trade forum.

If you want to sell something and you get a "you don't have permission to see this page" error, here's why. We have for a long time been dealing with a high volume of spam that's been posted in this forum. There are also jerks who register, sell their stuff, and then we never hear from them again. So to remind everyone that the BSTG threads are a marketplace for longtime TPU members, we've made it so that people can only post here if there account is in good standing (hasn't been banned) for 14 days. Thanks for your cooperation.

Heatware is required.
WTB threads do not require heatware!

www.heatware.com

Heatware has an alias feature where you set all of your names from different forums. This feature is meant to prevent someone from impersonating the person whom the heatware belongs to.

I would also recommend adding a "I don't trade anywhere else" alias to further protect against impersonation.

PayPal

Many members use PayPal service as a means to make monetary transactions. This is fine, however you cannot ask for "gift payments" for items being sold. This is against PayPal's terms of service and such transactions on this forum will not be allowed.

Can you add a heatware link option for people's profiles?

Whats heatware?

oOo ok thanks.

Heatware is stupid, it gives people who dont have it or dont buy/sell frequently a servere disadvantage.

let's try without heatware first. let's all be honest and nice and maybe this works out.

i dont expect so much action here soon so lets get our feet wet :)

I have a heatware and it brings me no disadvantages. You can associate your profile with different forums.

W1z you need to add "No freeipod-etc. deals"

So many evil doers out there. I cant believe it. Just goes to show you, always research when exchaning your hard earned cash.

how many thread's can one have in this sub-forum at the same time?

At this time there isn't a specific limit. I would try to finish selling the stuff in one thread before starting a new one, but if you need to create a new thread because you have more stuff to sell then that's not a problem. Just use your best judgment and don't create too many, but you don't necessarily have to keep adding new items to the same thread. Personally I would say having only one thread going at a time is ideal and if you have more than three going at once you might want to think about cutting back.. Especially if you are good about bumping your thread every 24 hours it's unfair to the other members if you have a whole bunch of threads on the first page of the forum and theirs get knocked to the second or third.

Better late then never.

Fit has one thread, everytime he gets new stuff, he just gets its wiped and starts again.

That's fine too. Whatever works for you within reason.

What is wiping a thread?
How do you get a thread wiped?

I had my original 4 sale thread closed by a moderator when the items sold. It would be nice to be able to keep the same post and just edit the item description cost and pics. Also I like as a buyer to see the lists some keep at the bottom of all the items sold and to who they were sold to. It really makes a good impression that the seller is legit at a quick glance without having to go to heat site unless your really dead serious about checking a seller out. Just my opinion on this though.

Report the first post of your for sale thread and tell us what you want the thread re-named to and that you want all the old posts regarding the old items deleted or we can just change the thread title and keep all the old posts (you decide). You can edit anything in any of your posts for eternity by using the edit button. Closing the thread keeps the thread searchable for a while though so people can see stuff you've sold in the past.

Polaris can we possibly add a ebayer seller feedback link instead or in addition to heatware , heatware is kinda crappy and a guys like me have almost 200 sales on ebay with feedback.

You can add your ebay feedback if you wish. Nobody will stop you. The thing about it though is that anyone can select a random seller that has positive feedback and post that sellers feedback too boost their credibility, so it should be taken with a grain of salt. I'm not going to amend the rules to make it an either/or thing or even suggest using it because outside of ebay it's a much weaker system. Please use heatware if at all possible since it links your forum user name to the account, ebay feedback outside of ebay just isn't as good.
