Um....have you been asleep at the wheel? Vega 64 was pathetic competition, and is now nearly impossible to find. Both it and 56 were done in by third party coolers and the end of first party blowers.

Nvidia is dominating the PC gaming space right now. AMD has no real competition, not even early speculation on NAVI is available, and AMDs GPU division was left is a bit of turmoil after raja left.

Are they making money now? yes, but not nearly as much as nvidia, and AMD has higher costs as well. We have seen 0 indication that AMD would have a competitive GPU on the horizon anytime soon.

so much so that die hard AMD fans that run AMD CPUs are running NVIDIA Graphics cards. almost all the highest end Ryzan builds have 1080/Ti cards in them. because the NV grfx is the higher preforming product

i think its purely a question of priorities.. concentrate on meeting current demand as best they can or putting out a new release that they dont need to put out..

current gamers really should not give a sh-t.. they will not be able to afford any new stuff that comes out anyway..

as for miners i recon they are probably happy with what they already have and are not eagerly waiting for a new hardware release..

trog

For as much as I need/want a new GPU for folding@Home/gaming, this whole cryptocurrency mining crap makes me glad that my baby is litereally due any minute and I wont really have time for games for a bit. But on the other hand, a new GPU folding at 100% the entire time im not using my computer would really help out.

How dare you use your gpu for folding instead of gaming!!!! YOU ARE CAUSING GLOBAL WARMING!

They are causing warming for proteins, miners are cauing warming to develop new tech.

Quick question for you: I believe you are another known miner on these forums. Are you at all excited about the possibilities of new cards for mining launching this year?

Like I usually want ROI within 2-3 months of building a rig, and with the current difficulty almost no card Nvidia would be likely to launch would be worth it. My math shows a $750 card from Nvidia would have to be capable of a crazy 80 MH/s to pay for itself in even 4 months lol. I don't see that happening...

Congrats for your baby. First one? If so kiss goodbye to your sleeps. You wont have ANY gaming for the next 2 yrs.

Dear Santa,

Please give Lisa Su the power to create a Vega 2 that beats the living snot out of GTX 2080 Ti.

Sincerely,

Your Friend, Elf ID # 1337

Dear God,

Please give Lisa Su the power to manufacture so enourmous amounts of the Vega 2 if Santa fulfills her wish so that price stay at MSRP and even miners can't buy them all up.

Sincerely,

A Friend of Elf ID# 1337

Dear Nvidia,

If Santa and God answer me back, I'm going to have a nice poo while deleting your driver page link from my saved bookmarks.

Sincerely,

Uranus, a highly underrated planet

Keep on dreaming bro

Have you? AMD vega is sold out worldwide due to mining , it is bascially everywhere from apple to intel to ryzen APU-s.. Tell me o awake one how much the 1080ti now because of mining and can you even buy one ?

My first her second. Fiancees kid is 6.

Sooo many rumors...this is a rumor saying other rumours weren't true. Next week will be the rumor that it's back on and a 3rd arch is being thrown in the mix named Schrodinger.

Both sources of the rumors claimed insider sources right? Click bait season?

absolutely not... i bought into mining at the end of august last year.. my 10 x 1070 cards are producing just over 18 dollars per day... the current price of a 1070 card in the UK is now around £600 quid..

work it out... £6000 quid just for the cards.. no way would i buy into mining in the current situation.. it really is not worth the hardware cost..

Yup, sold out worldwide...

Why has no one made a high end console yet ? And I don't mean a $400 ps4 pro capable of upscaled 4K/30, I mean a $800-1000 one capable of native 4K/60.
The Xbox One X can do Native 4K 30/60

Almost double the MSRP? Yeah, sold out in my eyes.

And basically not advantageous for either miners or gamer at those prices. The ROI at this point means buying new hardware is 6mo from paying off at the current return. So we are in limbo until cryptocurrency tumbles and insures cards in the channel then start to backup causing price to normalize.

Another probable reason Nvidia isn't interested in a new release... the new gen doesn't improve on Hash/$ and AIB's aren't about to be saying give us that! A) GDDR6X is still in a shortage, while B) they'd have to make new PCB's designs, tools, cooler designs, box's, marketing... For what! They're selling everything for twice what they use to get! Heck I wouldn't be surprise AIB's aren't saying we'll give you more per Pascal GPU's just don't upset the apple cart.

Haha glad to hear someone else parrot that thought back to me. I am coming to accept that if Nvidia did sell mining cards, they would be at prices that would make them not worth buying lol

Yeah I want to phase out my 28nm mining cards, but it almost seems unlikely unless some Hail Marry card comes from AMD this year. Like a $350 12nm GDDR6 RX 680 that can do 35-40 MH/s or 7nm Vega capable of 60 MH/s would be nice. But meh I am not seeing the rumors lol

It's a shame really, Vega was the dream, the great white hope, the crusher of evil Nvidia.

Turns out it really wasn't that great, but it has found a home down the mines at least.

So basically we're not getting anything without competition, or if we do, they'll just slot the pricing between 1080Ti and Titan Volta. Hello, $1199 2080 and $1499 2080Ti and $1999 Titan Ampere!
