for some odd forsaken reason any of my pens like this
Amazon.com Capacitive Stylus Pen (4 Pack), Universal Stylist Pens 2 in 1 Precision Series Fine...png

aren't working on it and the built in screen protector wasn't on this. and the screen acts a bit odd sometimes.

I'd hate to have to just use my fingers I can't use the pjone longer than an hour without a pen. ugh.

is there some way to tell if the screen was replaced or whatever?

I'd hate to have to return this phone.

the pens work on every other phone I have even my hubby's A42 5g.

The first thing I'd to is try a different pen.

can you try after you bump up the touch sensitivity, there is an option for glove users :)

Well it started to be bad even using my fingers so the phone is getting returned

was it a refurbished model? then yeah, they probably used some knock of screen replacement. pretty common.

Yes it was "Amazon renewed"

Common issue with old Samsung phones. My S10+ developed the same problem, the digitizer just goes wild, especially at the edges. Gets worse if the battery inside is slowly stuffing, there's almost no room inside the phone. The S20 series are already half a decade old and out of support. Just return it, get something newer if it can be helped.

My budget is 250 and possibly up to 300

Is prefer still to stay w samsung as the software is nicer and I can theme without needing root and change fonts and icons. Also the smart things stuff too as well as the smart select screen capture bar and loads of other features... ugh

Why tf Samsung do this??

And pixel is having green lines issues worse then Samsung is and green tint and lots of display issues

And I'm never going iPhone

Can you get a S21 FE in that price range? It should still receive Android 16 and if I'm not mistaken security patches until 2027.

Thing is does it still have the green lines issues and touch issues??

Cuz those are more important than software updates

Welp, quick search on Google indicates it does suffer it from green lines and digitizer issues as well, even if its screen is flat. Bummer.

Matter of fact, googling it shows even the current S25 series suffer from it. What the heck?

Might just get the note 10 5g or something

The only phones that don't have this issue are shit without waterproofing and wouldn't even run the video editor I use or are non 5g.

There's an LG v60 thinq 5g but everything needs to be done w windows software so nothing like smart switch is available. And it's boring stock android w none of the customizations at all. And root needed for anything.

Are there any good new samsungs w 5g at all without me having to friggin finance em??

green line displays are replaced by samsung even after the warranty is over as far as i know. Honestly a lot of people are using the S series that i know of and havent got the green line issue. I guess it depends on where the phone was made and where the display was sourced from, clearly one factory has been churning out faulty displays

Thing is it happening while I'm out hiking would not be good at all.

I think covid restrictions fucked so much stuff up.

Galaxy Note 10 or 20 is probably your best bet, though not all are 5G variants. You're looking for a niche within a budget (high end phone with stylus support), and well, I'll be honest: it's fallen out of my area of expertise, I've abandoned Android completely.

I wasn't fond of it to begin with, and ever since Apple started allowing emulators and other more esoteric applications like media players with direct file system access, I haven't felt even the need to keep an Android phone around.

My S10+ the last time I checked, was like brand new!

I used mine to the bone. At some point, even the back lid popped off due to a stuffed battery. Had it serviced and trucked it for some more time still.

I never tortured it, but I did use it at least almost every week. I used it regularly until '24. Because I couldn't get Android updates, and I don't want to get hacked!

I got my s10 plus in a unicorn beetle supcase tough case and it's been thru the ringer and still works good.

Just wish it had 5g support cuz 4g coverage isn't as good in my area.

I would have kept using mine, if I could get Android updates. I now have been regularly using an S23.

There's also no 5G in Springfield, Vermont. Nor the area just north of there. There is when I go across the Connecticut River and into New Hampshire in and near Claremont.

How's your s23 holding up??

You might consider a Motorolla phone, they can be had new for less and pack features the S line have, are not as intrusive as Samsungs either.

Can't change fonts and icons or anything is boring looking and lacks any quick screenshot, quick panel customization, smart switch transfer like software, is basic ui w everything. Wish it had the customization like Samsung. And the theming on this phone lifts my mood a lot cuz I got cute cat icons and lock screen and aod.

This is from My Moto G Power (2021)

Those icons etc if you got from the play store will work the same on the motorolla phone. I have a Live Wallpaper running on mine that I had since the Galaxy S4.

Also quick screenshot is press power button and volume down at the same time.
