[US] Sapphire R9 290 $199.99 (After Rebate)

Hey, saw this the other day and decided to post it so others could possibly follow up. This is for a reference design R9 290 by Sapphire for $199.99 after a $20 rebate. Its a great deal especially if your going to LC it yourself or just do not mind the stock cooler/will look on ebay for someone selling an aftermarket cooler to put on yourself.

Either way considering the performance category, $200 for a card like this is a steal of a deal even with the loud stock cooler (Which is not as bad as the 290X in terms of noise and heat).

I do not see an end to this deal until they are sold out so grab them while you can!!!

This is for a brand new product and not a refurb/used FYI.

totally a steal at that price (i got mine around that price but it was a used one

) and for noise and heat, well the lower price tag enable for some FC waterblock and loop goodness!

meanwhile .... where i am no such deal can be found ... :cry:

I have this exact card and it's great, but I really wouldn't say it's much better than the 290x in terms of heat and noise. Stock cooler with get the card up to 94*C and it'll be plenty loud.

That said, it's a nice deal to be sure; if I had the money, I'd grab another one. And as @GreiverBlade said, a waterblock is the way to go!

I just meant not as bad because also the fan is a little more limited on the 290 to achieve similar temps so letting is go to the same noise level as the 290X results in lower temps. That being said, still not optimal for those wanting a quiet machine

Exactly, its a perfect candidate for say someone grabbing a pair and then putting water blocks on it and overclocking. Would run any 1440p game on ultra and be quiet to boot for a lot cheaper than the alternatives.

The 290 is only a generation behind and is still extremely capable at playing most if not all games on high at 1080p with 60+fps.

i bought my r9 290 for 220$ on sale and it's aftermarket cooled even so this is a goddamn steal if only i had that kind of money right now damn :cry:

even if it's reference i'd mod a cooler onto that card :rockout:

Wasn't flashing to a 290x a possibility on these? Certainly a gamble if possible, of course, but still.
