Thanks guys. I'll be picking up that Connect3d then, and crossing my fingers it will work at least as good as this Powercolor, which is stable at XT speeds but not XT-PE (reckon it needs better cooling).

And at the same time, definately forking out for an ATI Silencer. These fans are some mean beasts!

Anyhow i am running VGA core and memory at 573.5Mhz without ANY corruption ingame (just had a 2hr CS:Source session at max settings.

Amm system is o/c to 2420 Mhz wth DDR overlcokd from 400Mhz to 440.

it's pushing about 5900 3rmarks 05 comfy (shit) my last VGA on slower memory (360Mhz) was pushing 6350...

ewww.... grose dont tought the scilencer for the x800 series ah fuk it ive explained y like 50 times to 50 diferent peeps just trust me get the zalman vf700-cu <lol

Thanks Sean. Read up on that Zalman, and seems it's a better choice. And the obvious advantage is it's easier to port to a new video card later on.

Sapphire X800pro Vivo to 800XT Mod misery

Hi,

I have bought my card form newegg the card is Sapphire X800pro 256M Pcie VIVO 2ns. I see many tutorials about the flawless AGP x800Pro to Xt conversion. I have heard the vivo cards not lasercutted. This is not true.. The old mod which is based on the R420 core not working anymore. I have removed the fan and the heatsink from the vga. Woooa the R423 core was laser cutted. I used some silver conductive paint to bridge out the laser cut. I have measured the resistance and that was good. After i reassembled my card and started the atitool... Still the same 12 Pipes. And now... Flash some bios...

I have tried many bioses Like. ASUS x800xt pcie, powwercolor X800xt pcie, BBA X800Xt pcie. After flashing the ATi driver always recognise my card as: X800Gt or the older drivers X800Se. This is bad the Gt contains 8 pipleines only... So... The magic is in the BIOS...... The old R420 core id is: 4A49, The R423 core id is form Atitool: 5549, but in the flasher (flashbios) i get 554B?

So the conclusion is: The New Sapphire X800Pro VIVO is not moddable with this easy way (bios flash and shorting the laser cut. The sulution lies in the BIOS... I think....

Any ideas...????

are you shure the lasercut is working (did u scratch off the protective film ontop of the contacts?

chances are that it wont mod to 16 pipes on alot of those pcie ones the pipes are disabled inside the core aswell

the only pro that usaly doesnt come with a laser cut is the x800 agp vivo all others will likely have the laser cut

lol x800gt y are they making that card anyway lol

I have reinstalled the atitool but still 12 Pipelines remained. One question: What is the rational goal of the lasercut on those R4323 cores if they are castrated inside the chip? What is the purpose of the lasercut in this case? What is the diff. between the X800XT and the X800pro? All of these cards based on the R423 core. I cannot understand the X800GT/SE misery when i and others flashed the xt bios to these cards... Maybe the X800 cards are using some special "lite" R423 cores?

The X800GT simptom why not happens on the X800XT? If the R423 core is the same?

the x800se pro xt and xtpe are all the same card the lasercut is a way of disabling pipes that may not be disabled on die see there are some pros that are disabled through the lasercut, bios or, on die and some times a combination of the 3

did you redo the lasercut?
