Look for a wireless PCI card on the cheap for an Abit AG8 with a 630 CPU @ 3.6 Ghz. My router is a WRT54G v2

Prefer vanilla 802g, but "n" would be a bonus. Would also consider a USB version.

Recommendations wanted. If anyone has one to sell, feel free to PM me.

Wow! Ummmm... anyone?

Thx, though the "$24.99 shipped when I bought it" makes me want to beat you with a stick.

Who knows, depending on how bad you need it, you could wait for a few days and see if it goes back on sale... The only time they raise the prices for that is if the stock runs low and they wanna hold it in stock till a new shipment arrives...

I like it overall. Works in Linux, Win7, Win Vista (all 64bit) and the drivers come from RALINK (the chipset manufacturer) and they update the drivers every 4-6 months...

D-Link DDA-1320
I had one, and it worked great for months, gave it to a friend and it's still working. Works in XP, Vista, 7, and Ubuntu

I have used the Encore one, sold it to a friend in my apt. complex. Worked great.

That is worth somethng for sure... I imagine a jump to Win7 within a year...

Bad of me post FleaBay links, but here's one for $17 shipped that supports Vista: http://cgi.ebay.com.my/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=290304936563

Check with 3dsage. I think he still has one for sale.

If you have a best buy in your area, and don't mind going local, I ran 3 of the Dynex PCI cards, did G I believe, not sure how much they were, but just worked. In one PC, a USB Linksys card would cause the PC to crash, a PCI Linksys Wireless card caused the PC to crash, the Dynex it loved no problems.

Looks good, but I usually try to stay away from open box/re-certified items due to poor success rates I've had in the past

Crap, I didn't even see the "recertified" part. :shadedshu

I looked at the boxed version and the review ratio was the same. For $12, it's not much of a gamble and I can send it back for a replacement...

As the wise man said, "We shall see."

Holy crap! I've never dealt with such a POS bundle of hardware. At the end of the driver install, the system hung... and that's only the begining.

Reboot... system wouldn't. Kept letting out random beeps and error codes on the MB. Tried everything, like 10 different times, different PCI slot even. Even tried removing the card and the system STILL would not post.

After resetting the CMOS, I finally got in, but the driver would crash in less than a minute each time. Removed the hardware, removed the software. Still crashed.

I ended up taking out the motherboard, removing the CPU, memory... put it back together and everything was happy again. Was it other hardware??? I'm on an old D-Link USB WiFi adapter now and it's working like a charm (but slow).

Lesson learned?

RMA for a new one.
