Your choice... but I'd wait for vega and see what that does to the market since you can currently play fine on the 780Ti?

I wouldn't Fury simply because of power use and lack of overclocking... but, that's just me.

Battlefield 1 mainly and I don't OC. I do however have a freesync monitor I wanna try.

Don't upgrade yet. Makes no sense.

Only reason is the price is so cheap. 250. I cant afford a more expensive GPU honestly. I mean I could but, ummmm it wouldn't be the right thing to do. Family and all that.

R9 fury's are beasts for sure, I believe they compete with and beat my 980Ti in some comparisons now with more developed drivers.

Depending on how much you want to upgrade vs. need to upgrade...I'd say wait for the 1080Ti and Vega to be released. Otherwise, go for it! :D

1080Ti releases end of march. announcement in about 9-10 hours.

That's a damn good price however as much as a technical wonder Fiji was , it didn't shine as much as it should have did. I'd wait for Vega.

If its within your budget, buy it, it looks like a proper bargain to me especially if you sell the 780ti

If you cant wait longer go for it.

I wouldn't consider upgrading my 780ti to a Fury, not enough performance gain (only 10% over a reference 780ti at 1080p according to TPU's review of the ASUS Strix Fury, less if you have a 780ti like mine that's OC'ed to 1.1GHz or higher)

Nah, Fury is an old card and not much of an upgrade. With 1080ti and Vega coming up soon, you should be able to get a hold of something better. There's going to be quite a few 1080's for sale shortly I think.

but for $250?

Still, 1080 should be 50% faster than Fury. What do you think the 1080s will cost?

It's a good card, I'd keep it a little longer and keep an eye out for a bargain or wait for Vega. I'm more than happy with my titans at the minute and they're a notch down from your Ti. :)
I would think about downloading msi afterburner and overclocking it a bit, it's very easy to do and the stock limits imposed by the card's bios and afterburner's settings mean that it would be very difficult to damage it, worst case driver restarts and it's back to stock. But you could easily make up the 10% performance to match the R9 Fury! You can set the overlay to display the GPU temp as well until you're happy with your settings.

Not really worth it (I sport a 780 Ti as well), you would want something stronger, like a 980 Ti / 1070 / 1080 at least. Simply overclock it, if you're really using it stock like listed in your PC specs, it gets 10-20% extra performance that way, a great overclocker.

I wouldn't replace a top NVIDIA card, even an older one like the 780 Ti with AMD.

The new Vegas are likely to be a different story though if they're anything like Ryzen.

Regardless, even if you wanted something like a GTX 1080* you should still wait for Vega as you'll have much better options then, especially on price.

*I got a GTX 1080 back in September to replace my 780 Ti and it was fantastic, but I don't have it any more since it died recently, so I got a full refund on it. Gone back to my trusty 780 Ti in the meantime, so I'm therefore in the same boat as you on graphics cards.

I totally agree, you'll be able to find really good deals for 1080's in a month or two. Probably you'll be able to survive using your 780ti for the next couple of months :)

I imagine you'll probably get the 1080 Ti and not wait for Vega ?! :p

P.S Sorry for double posting I thought smbdy else posted in the meantime ;))

Oh I'll wait for Vega all right. I'll then be able to make an informed choice as to which brand is better and no doubt prices will be competitive. Of course, whatever card I buy then will be better than a GTX 1080 as the market has moved on. I really miss the killer FastSync feature on my 1080 though at the moment.:cry:

That is a wise choice, I did not use FastSync as I have a gsync monitor. Is there any difference between the two?

Cheers matey. Oh yeah, big difference, they're totally different functions and grats to you for getting a G-Sync monitor, I'd love to have one. <best green with envy face>

G-Sync: without it, the GPU and monitor work at a fixed refresh rate eg 60Hz, 100Hz etc. For smooth, stutter-free motion, the GPU should be rendering fast enough that vsync can be used to maintain a solid framerate, matching that of the refresh ie one rendered frame per refresh. If it drops, then you get all that glorious stuttering we pay so much money to get rid of with a high end rig. G-Sync (and adaptive sync generally) works the other way, where the monitor is synced to the framerate of the GPU, so there's no fixed refresh rate from the monitor. Thus fluid motion is still achieved when the GPU can't render a high framerate and it helps with latency too.

FastSync: this relies on out and out brawn from the GPU (and the CPU too, but to a lesser extent) and works with a fixed refresh rate monitor. Here, the GPU isn't synced to the monitor refresh in the usual way. Instead, it's allowed to freewheel, rendering frames at a speed above the refresh rate eg 120-200fps for a 100Hz refresh monitor. However, all those extra frames are not sent to the monitor, only the one immediately before the next monitor refresh cycle. This maintains the benefit of smooth, tear-free motion as if vsync was on, with the lower latency of vsync off and is especially noticeable on a fast first person shooter game. The cost is that the graphics card works harder, running hotter and using more memory, so that 8GB framebuffer suddenly doesn't look so huge any more. If the GPU cannot render frames faster than the monitor refresh, then the effect is lost. This is why a high performance PC is needed for this feature to work properly. Of course, the monitor refresh could be dropped to 60Hz say to maintain those extra frames, but the effect is much better at 144Hz monitor refresh and higher.

Presumably, this can be used with G-Sync to maintain smooth motion when the framerate drops below the monitor refresh, eliminating stutter under almost all conditions, with the cost being latency at those lower framerates. Note that a G-Sync monitor will work like a regular monitor above and below the G-Sync framerate range, hence it should work ok with FastSync. I see that you have the same Palit GTX 1080 that I did (isn't it quiet!) so give it a go and let us know how you get on. :)

Current AMD cards don't have this killer feature, so I hope it will be available with Vega, otherwise I'm not interested.

Thank you kind sir :) , I will give this a try today when I get home. Until I get my Zen platform this would be a good thing to test :P
