That's why there are other sites. I can find the score for the latest nvidia 2080 Ti on 20 different sites and compare.

Besides, why do you find unreliable the numeric scores of 1 user but not their conclusions?

And what's more, I do not think that the score per se is important, but how that score compares to similar products. I may agree or disagree with giving a certain motherboard a 9.5, but what I find important is that the same user has rated that motherboard 9.5 and another one 8.5. That is something useful to me, and a good complement to the rest of the conclusions that many times are too arcane for me.

Well... it looks like the scores are going to be coming back :( unless someone made alt accounts to tip the vote. Why are people so afraid of change?

I like the numerical grading, but I'll always read the justifications for the grade. There are many nuanced reasons that change over different brands and that's important to note.

The only fault I can see in scoring is that the value assigned on the date item 1 was reviewed may be different on another date. Case in point from another thread:

When the 290x came out, intital impressions were based upon a) it beat the 780 out of the box and b) it was substantially cheaper than the 780. When the 780 Ti came out. just 2 weeks later .... the pricing of the 780 dropped drastically to the same as 290x and it had been shown that with both cards overclocked the 780 (which was a great overcocker) was ahead in almost every game. So if the rating includes "value" as in performance / price ratio, this is subject to change. Same is true today with the RTX series cost inflated to promote clearing 10xx series excess inventories and no competition from AMD from the 1060 on up, this will change once that inventory is exhausted.

At 1st glance it would seem that a two ratings system would be useful... one for performance and one for value with the later linked to current on line picing. Unfotunately, the link thing it would seem though that to many factors involved such as price of anything else you might consider from then current or future releases .... so the 2nd rating would have to be limited to "at the moment"

My rating factors in order of preference ...

1. Overclocked performance
2. Power and voltage limits
3. Power and Noise levels
4. Does EK make a custom water block ?
5. Relative cost

Benchmark Scores Faster than yours... I'd bet on it. :)
A great suggestion might be to lock this thread and leave a final post and update the first post explaining where this went because if I hadn't read that link just now, I wouldn't have known.
I've reported your post a few hours ago to bring the thread to the attention of the staff. Hopefully the thread is closed so people can stop spinning their tires on something which was decided and implemented several days ago.

I'm thankful the scoring debacle here is over...it was totally useless how it was used here.

I really hope numerical scores come back- all I really look at is the conclusion, pros and cons, the score and any awards that were given. Without the scores everything is a jumbled mess.

I have to admit that I cheat and read the last page first, but I usually go back and read it all as well.

If I am interested in a product, I read most of the review. But before THE CHANGE, I used to read the conclusion page of all the reviews, if only to mentally bookmark products in which I was not interested at first but received a very high score.

Now I do not even open the RSS link on feedly for those reviews.

Its a good thing I don't get my way often. I would leave a score and the conclusions would read "Read the damn review and form your own damn conclusion" This is why I review things and do not make important decisions.

Agreed. I'm not sure why it's such a big deal one way or the other. If you're interested in a product, as I assume you would be to be reading the review in the first place, you should be willing to devote more than the 2 seconds it takes to look at some (arguably) arbitrary numeric score and base your decisions on that.

I don't really understand- a vast majority of the votes were in favor of keeping the old scoring system, yet they removed it anyway?

I hope the scores come back. In my case if I'm looking for something, I will sort it by score first, then jump to the conclusion page.Oh there's a deal breaker for me even if it's highly rated? Move to the next one until I find the right one.

What I've always enjoyed in TPU reviews was the fact that the reviews were clear, objective and presented comparisons in a normalized/relative way that made easy to spot when a product upgrade was worth it. The scoring system, according to my experience on some of the products I've used, helped to get a perspective. Now, I'm lost.

I removed the database column for the scores just a few days ago, they are not coming back

Read the +- list, then the conclusion, if you think the product is for you, read the rest of the review. If you're still lost, ask in the comments or here on the forums, we are here to help you.

I suppose the next step is to get Darksaber to actually test the products he reviews instead of just holistically "experiencing" them and then giving them a score between 9 and 10.

Oh, so that's why I don't see scores anymore... Okay, so the newer articles have no scoring system - fine with me, I used to look at scores years ago (then I started reading the pro/cons and assessing that for myself), but for history's sake, why not keep the scores for the old articles? Too much database work?

Anyway, farewell, scores - I'll always remember the legendary perfect 10/10 for the GTX 670 Direct Cu II :)

Why remove the scores when a vast majority of users were in favor of keeping them? Please explain the logic behind this.

for me scores are important but more important is the criteria that used
i've seen some from the other webs that tend to praise one then lowering the other stuff
