Shuttle XPC Barebone SG41J1 Now with DDR3 Memory Support

Crapass!

Bit of a stupid suggestion but d'you not have any other RAM you could try, it could be a faulty board.

See I can't see it being a faulty board as it's perfectly solid running at 800MHz DC, or 1066MHz single stick.

Both with pass as many loops of Prime/IBT/LinX as you throw at it, and will game all day long no problem.

It's only when you try to go above 800MHz with two sticks that it throws a wobbler and won't boot.

The only other memory i've got to try is some Corsair 1600MHz stuff, i'll give it a go, but if it won't work with the Corsair 1333MHz, I doubt the 1600 will behave any differently (it's more than likely the same stuff just re-badged).

Definitely sounds like a BIOS issue, still, from my experiences they end up releasing new revisions of a board instead of a BIOS after a while. I think I saw 4GBs (2 x 2GB)
of Patriot RAM on eBay for like £40 or something, I'll see if I can find a link.

Hi all, I just want to post my similar experiences and thank you for posting your comments/advice which really helped!

I bought a Shuttle Barebones XPC SG41J1 Plus V2 Black (http://www.shuttle.eu/products/mini-pc/sg41j1-plus-v2/) ("Plus V2“ = DDR3 version with VGA and DVI port)

It came with BIOS version SG41P_00.101 which didn't post/boot with the following DDR3 RAM installed (the CPU and case fans spin/stay on but nothing is displayed on a screen plugged into the on-board VGA slot):
1 or 2 sticks of 2GB Corsair TW3X4G1333C9A XMS3 PC3-10600 (1333 MHz) DDR3
2GB INTEGRAL PC3-8500 (1066 MHz) DDR3

but it did boot OK with
1GB Kingston ValueRAM KVR1333D3N9/1G PC3-10600 (1333 MHz) DDR3

so I then flashed the BIOS to version SG41P_00.110 using a bootable DOS USB stick (instructions at http://www.biosflash.com/e/bios-boot-usb-stick.htm)

and now it boots fine with the
2 twin sticks of 2GB Corsair TW3X4G1333C9A XMS3 PC3-10600 (1333 MHz) DDR3

and my final setup complete!

Cheers,
Sean
