Just as EA and Maxis seemed ready to put launch issues to bed and march onwards with the development of their “MMO”, SimCity’s 2.0 patch has infused the game with a colourful array of shiny new bugs. Fans have taken to Reddit and official forums to decry the mess, which has left some cities literally overflowing with waste.

Human excrement is at the bottom (sorry) of one common issue encountered since yesterday's patch. A concerned Redditor reported a “sewage OVERLOAD” in a town with a relatively tiny population of 4,000 that saw their outflow pipe “MAXED”. Another player beginning a new town with a similarly-sized bevy of civvies found their terminally incontinent Sims had already put 55 in the clinic.

Not all of the bugs are so ripe for comedy. Some SimCity players have found themselves stuck on loading screens when attempting to resume cities created before the patch - though they've had no problems in creating new ones. Others lucky enough to access their saves have discovered that buildings wouldn’t complete construction, instead becoming perpetual building sites.

Complete article here.

I guess I won't be playing SimCity for a while then.

Well I guess you could say the game just got more....shitty.

YEEEEEEEEEEAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHH!!!

why do big companies always ruin good titles? Who else remembers Blizzard pre-activision, bioware and simcity before EA? so frustrating

edit: from reddit somewhere

Wow.

There's stepping on your own dick, then there's getting a 100 ton press involved. Congratulations EA and Maxis, you've won the worst PR disaster from an entertainment company ever award. You and BP can take your excrement shaped trophies and go home now.

How ironic. I wonder if it was intentional

In a word, yes. Blizzard and Bioware were largely driven by creativity before buyout. After the buyout/merger, they're driven by money. It's the same in the music industry: artists want to be creative and publishers want money. Publishers can't hijack artists like they can intellectual property though (like StarCraft, Mass Effect, and Dragon Age).

I'm pretty sure they would have gone there anyway. I dont really see a difference between Blizzard now and Blizzard of old, and Bioware always was overrated. Also they got very big, so no matter what they do there is a LOT of money involved.

And Simcity before EA? Maxis can screw up on their own.

Maxis was bought out in the late 1990s. SimCity 3000 was technically the last true Maxis-made SimCity title. SimCity 4 and SimCity (2013) are Maxis in name only.

So?

i wonder if some techs working writing code for the patch had a grudge against the boss hahaha

sounds like sean connery, shimshitty

I was kinda hoping this would fix things, but I doubt I will even buy Sim City now.

The Golden Poo award makes sense now... Up to 5,300+ 1 star reviews on Amazon.

and now it's 40$ on Amazon, I could have saved 20 bucks:shadedshu

and I was just planning to buy it, looks not

I haven't played it at all since 2.0 came out but I suspect most of the bugs are in old cities, not new ones. The bugs in new cities will probably get sorted quickly. I wouldn't have much hope for old cities getting fixed though.

A friend of mine bought it and I wanted to join him. Usually when a launch fails, they discount the price, but they'll need to bring it down a lot more than that before I'm interested.

EA has been laying a lot of staff off lately, I wonder if any of the team at Maxis has gotten a pink slip lately.

I own the game and 2.0 does have a new mess of problems. Started a new city, didn't run into the sewage problem but found a couple of others. Trains no longer run so I get no passengers and no trading via the train system. Also whatever they did to the tourism part completely broke it as I get "0" tourists. Emergency vehicles in traffic is still a nightmare. If you haven't bought the game yet... don't. Very frustrating to say the least.

my condolences to whoever bought this game

I have no other words to put it; whoever still buys EA or Ubisoft games after all we have witnessed these years is just dump.

Sorry.
