SLI Problem: GPU 2 is Way hotter

Independently, each card runs fine. OP has same brand different model mobo. I don't think it is mobo. I was thinking Nvidia drivers somehow. Or as you state, how the sensors are mis reporting the temp.

Yea this is what iam unsure on, if my m8 has tested his with just one card, that i dont know as he is very stubborn. We thought drivers to, but after going through a ton of them this did not fix the issues. In his case the temps are reading correctly, and he has formatted a few times, so he thinks its the mobo. Time will tell.

Well s**t then, could def. be a load balancing problem with the drivers although I would suspect this would be much more widely seen by others.

I'm now wondering if bottom card reads correct for system and top card is false report as you state it would be seen more widely by others.

I would like a definitive answer as to how the SLI reports with regards to all of our questions.

I don't think it is the TIM or lack of.

I just sent email request to EVGA with link to this post. Sent to sales department so it may take a few days for response.. Monday is Federal holiday in USA.

I tried putting the PSU in right side up but I think it made it worse.
After 5 minutes of gaming

GPU 1: 57c
GPU 2: 96c

If you have tried both cards in top slot and temps are always higher for bottom card, to same degree, then I think TIM is not an issue.

96c, I would be concerned that the card would go, pop! That's a big difference in numbers.

What do you mean by this?

This is what i mean. In my image, I am folding on GPU-0 which should be the top card.
In the image card 2 is the hotter card, or the one folding.

Simple reversal of temps. I still think its your top card that is hot, not the bottom one. Or its just F@H reversing it, and Im as lost as the rest of you;)

Dear Customer,

Thank you for contacting the EVGA Customer Service Team.
My name is Matthew Hurwitz and I will be answering your question today.

Answer:

Hello, Switch the cards, if the temps are roughly the same and follow the card they are accurate readings. No 2 cards will run at the same temperature due to a number of variables. Regards, EVGA

It looks like he didn't read the post. The temp does not follow the card, it follows the position of the card.

@ sneekypeet

Why this phenomenon with how SLI reports? (also, side note, sneekypeet's was the name of a nightclub... any relationship?)

I cant say for sure, but with F@H it became really obvious. No relationship to the bar, unless they want to pay me royalties;)
