I have this issue since I did a platform upgrade Z690 that one of my fans stops spinning after a few seconds I've hit the start button...

I tried different fan headers, different fan profiles and BIOS fan profiles with fans set to 100%, nothing helped, it happened with my noctua and be quiet! fans..

I have one top exhaust fan which never has stopped spinning after system startup, a Scythe which has no 0rpm option it seems...

However I want better fans than this 120mm scythe one.

I need 4 new PWM fans something like the noctua NF-A12x25 PWM for my Noctua NH-U12A cooler, exhaust and front-intake but than without a 0rpm option..

If you know some comparable quality PWM fans without 0rpm option, to finally get rid of this issue, let me know!

Supposedly the Arctic P12 has a minimum of 200 rpm mode.
https://www.arctic.de/en/P12-PWM/ACFAN00119A

I have 2 of those 'PST variant' as top exhaust but since I have it all controlled via built in hub/linked to my CPU header/Bios PWM I cannot try that out.
As for their quality I can't say much but they seem to be pretty decent for the price and seem to hold up well with my Be Quiet! Light Wings in the system.

Any other options?

Was just looking at the https://www.scythe-eu.com/en/products/fans/kaze-flex-120-slim-pwm.html but they only go to 1800rpm @ 50.79 CFM..
Need at least 60 CFM if possible...

Got 1 of these at top-exhaust but becomes noisy at higher rpm's, was otherwise been a good choice with it's 1300rpm , 74.25 CFM..:ohwell:

Edit: Ok the Scythe Slipstream 120 PWM is not that unbearably loud, just ran it at 100%, maybe I have no other option than Scythe slipstream 120 PWM fans...

If you need more CFM as opposed to just cheap, there's always the Phanteks T30s. Put them on normal mode (up to 2000rpm) and they won't have 0rpm mode. Hard to beat them in terms of airflow (they replaced my A14s and push more air at less noise), and you won't have fitment problems as case fans, but they aren't cheap.

Do you use splitters for your fans? My A12x25s didn't like one of my ITX boards with splitter, would sometimes only run 1 out of 2 fans unless I used voltage control mode.

Also my Unify-X had the same symptoms with an industrial A14, fan just didn't like the board.

I didn't like how anemic Silent Wings 3 was, but the SW4 fans look to be a good performer.

I tried, It went OK for about a week...

Phanteks T30s.
Ok looking into these.

Unfortunately in this case they are with the 0rpm as minimum as far as I know.

Not sure what you mean buy that, I would set them in PWM mode in BIOS, since they are PWM fans, or do you run them in DC mode?

I already looked into these before I see, but these are 0 rpm's too just like the SW4.

Not sure where you got that idea. T30s have a physical switch for 3 operating modes, up to 1200rpm with fan stop, up to 2000rpm with no fan stop, up to 3000rpm with no fan stop.

Daisy chainable as well, like Lian Li (?) and Arctic PST fans (I think). Only drawback is the price, but compared to A12x25 I guess the 3-pack pricing isn't all that bad.

Yeah just looking at the 3 pack.

The thing is, they can go as low as 0rpm... AH, so the fan stop is only when set to hybrid 1200rpm mode?

So I could use them in 2000/3000rpm mode without the 0 rpm?

This sounds like the fan headers may not be enabled in the BIOS, some BIOS's enable them all by default or all disabled off. IIRC fan profiles changes do not enable them.

Have you tested this with other fans using the same header?

Only the fans with fan-stop had this issue , tried different headers with all of them, as mentioned only the Scythe stays always spinning which doesn't have the fan stop option.

That extra thickness of the T30 makes a lot of difference

@tabascosauz

Seeing the graph, they go to 0rpm at whatever you mode you set?

If I'm seeing this wrong and they stay spinning at their lowest in 2000/3000 mode I think I might order a 3-pack.

hmm, so a PWM signal at lower than minimum speed would do the same thing.

Use a voltmeter to check the PWM signal to rule out the motherboard or a bad BIOS version. /roll d6

or a bad BIOS version
Tried different BIOS'es, all the same issue.

I don't want to RMA the board.
I just need fans that don't come with the fan-stop option and it should work fine.

I was going to recommend this option also. I've used a few of them and they are excellent. They can be used effectively in a non-PWM config if that is what you desire, though I don't think Arctic does the zero-rpm thing. Per Artics specs, the minimum is 200rpm, which is silent unless you have your ear 15cm from the fan.

Downside is they are upto 56.3 CFM at max speed, I prefer higher CFM.

I looked at the Arctics, some say they are very brittle
I have a couple and the frames flex more than my Phanteks.

Have to wait and see..

I've read that too, but have never seen it. Granted, I've only crossed pathes with a couple dozen or so of them and didn't do any flex tests, so who knows. I doubt they're so brittle that they will fly apart at any given moment.

Well the Arctics P12 PWM do come with a 6 year warranty and don't find/read anything about brittle/broken about them.

If I'm not satisfied with the Arctics, I'll get Scythe slipstreams.

By using FanControl the 3000 RPM mode also goes to 0 RPM and I think the 2000 RPM mode goes too.
BTW, important to set the fan to PWM in the BIOS, not AUTO or DC.

set the fan to PWM in the BIOS
Did that for all my PWM fans.

By the way I don't read that in this thread that @Shrek said that...

Well I'll find out soon.

Otherwise I'm getting the Scythe Slipstreams.
