[Solved] Recommend me quiet but quality PWM fans without 0rpm option

Actually my case has it kind of and I use it for 2 140mm intake fans, the switch has 3 modes, DC fans though, no PWM.

I just prefer full control of the fans with software creating fan profiles.:)

I had a Zalman fan controller in the past with nice display and all, for controlling 4 fans... :D
I'm similar mate, I have a Lamptron controller, no software needed, 5 or 6 controlling dials on the front, I just turn them to be quiet or noisy, no faffing about with software or bios's that don't seem to behave the way I hoped they would. Just connect the fans, set the speed and move on. One controller I have will handle 300w of power so there's no issues with power handling but crikey the hassles with all the other software based or more expensive controllers, I'm simple, I just need it to control the fan speeds, up or down. I don't need it reporting flow rates and power handling or anything of the like... :) Just do the one job I'd like you to do please!

Wait, what happened to the Arctics? Change your mind?

That may have been my fault

That 30 mm depth makes a big difference

No worries. As long as he has his problem solved, it's all good.

I tried, sometimes it worked, next day it didn't, randomly...

Got the new fans installed, powered on, all fans keep spinning, so all fine for a first start!
I have them set to 2500 rpm max, they do have a jet sound at around 2000, they would be quite loud if I had set them to 3000...

Edit: Tweaking fan profiles...

But.. They move a ton of air!

After running 1 Cinebench R23 multi:

Really nice temperatures.

Sofar after testing, using this profile on all 3 new fans (2 CPU cooler, 1 exhaust)

A real daft question after everything you've tried and reading through all of the thread... What about a simple fan controller??

I must be the only one running one nowadays to be honest.... Am I that old??
modern PWM fans need a 12V controller instead of a simple dial - my problem is finding one that remembers settings without bloated software running
You can run PWM hubs which help, but my mobo defaults to 100% on boot which makes many fans screamers til it POST's

I can't ever get the fans to run properly when I have to rely on the bios settings, what I think should make sense, has nothing to do with the fans and they don't work as I'd hoped. I'll just stick with me dials... I'm old fashioned that way.... lol

Nothing wrong with that, some fans work really well on voltage control. The best fans (smoothest, great airflow, great RPM range, and low noise) I've used are the Koolance 12025HBK https://koolance.com/fan-120x25mm-108cfm but they don't have PWM, I ran them on a controller.

Voltage is a necessity for A12x25s on Y-splitter that don't play nice with Gigabyte boards and abruptly stop. Stands to reason it's worth trying even if no Y-splitter.
if you use a hub as an intermediary, the Y splitters will behave better.

Smoother for sure. Can even get lower spin than rated low.

Noctua is where you should start.. and end..
Or maybe you can also try BeQuiet!

Says the Phanteks T30 puts Noctua to shame

I have been using Phanteks fans and he Fan Hubs exclusively since 2013 ... I usually buy them a dozen at a time when they go on sale. Never encountrred better TS and replacement policies. Had 16 in my original build on with 420 and 280 in push pull but was unnecessary. have them set up to shtdown as normally water temps rarely break 30c ... have them set up to shut off when hardware under 50C, and with any benchmark running they never break 650ish rpm ... with intermittent gaming loads the rpm used to run up and down, but increased the ramp down timer and ever since they pretty steady. I can say anything bad about the Silent Wing 3's but I just like these better.

I wish Noctua would sell the basic fan without all the extra

"anti-vibration mounts, fan screws, Low-Noise Adaptor, extension cable and y-cable"

The antivibration rubber mount thing is just a gimmick anyway, now all the brands have it but it doesn't really do anything. If you run PWM, you don't need the low noise adapter. They could just make the fan cable longer so no need for the extension.

Exactly!

lmfao there are. But, without rubber it's so 90-s and BS...

LNA sometimes makes it DEADLY SILENT, if just silent doesn't fit you. Quiet nights will thank you... ;)

I used to use a fan controller (Lamptron also) years ago. It was nice. Unfortunately most new cases these days don't have any front drive bays for such things.
I don't need a billion bays like the Antec 900 had, but I do wish more cases would have at least one bay. :(

I wonder if its a ploy in getting rid of optical etc. drives?? I rarely see anyone building a PC with that in.... I still use mine here :)

You could get away with just rubber washers stacked 2 or 4 lol

I just built 1 last year using a Zalman Z1 neo.

I like the media for backups and still use cds for music playback (idfc about cloud/streaming)

I rarely build a PC without one. There are "people" out there with this flawed idea in their head that optical media is useless or antiquated. Total narrow thinking IMO, but whatever.
Yeah you have that Right, not everyone likes everything on the cloud and not everyone has a 1 Gibibit per second connection either.

6 Mebibits/s is 768 KibiBytes/s

Also what are people going to do if cloud goes down, aka office 365, they are screwed at that point.
