Starfield discussion thread

it's just a Shieldbreaker that i tweaked with each part i wanted when they became available, but your mobility is higher ...

btw did you nickname your ship? mine could be octapod given the number of retros it has (although it also has 8 more underbelly ) space guppy is the second thing that come to my mind looking at yours

ah, Sarah is totally relaxed ... it seems

Yeah mine's called the Trident IV, no idea why, it just worked

I did initially want to shape the whole thing like a trident, but that would make it pretty fat and any shape that isn't a rectangle is brutally inefficient or hard to make nice. Its a great shape to place a lot of parts on though, you'll have so many edges to work with. But placing all the necessities on the inside is another nice way to add edges. Hollow center is a pretty good design choice.

Let me counter that with my custom built barge. Slightly low on mobility at 73, but I rarely have to worry too much about the sluggishness.

60 reactor and 8k shielding? What the f... Where can I toss money at my screen to get that

Has anyone found the lost ship Supremacy? This is info you get on the same computer in the Echoes of the Past quest for Delgado when you find the info on Kryx's "Legacy" ship. The Supremacy is said to have over 1 million credits on it, but in my searching I only found a lot of Reddit posters, all of whom haven't found it. It's supposed to be in the Sol system somewhere around Saturn.
Could very well be the actual joke, this reeks strongly of pre-placed internet hype :) And nothing stops Bethesda to actually add the ship at some undefined moment in the future :D

I would lol so hard if that'd be the case

i'd call it an expansive sandbox RPShooter with some space fun component ...

also any follower i have use the gun i give and equip them with ... (as long as i give them at least 1 related ammo ) i wonder why yours do it differtently ...

Might be it, but they used to shoot just fine without ammo.

So I have the Legendary Mantis set that is pure Stealth. I go invisible if I stop moving. So I have been working to a stealth weapons collection as well which I feel I have achieved. I paid like 24k for this gun I found at the Atlantis gun shop and it is literally one shotting everything, including friendlies who get in it's path as I just found out trying to overtake a space station with a bunch of friendlies and somehow Vasco who I just one shotted...Yeah I am definitely reloading my save and being ALOT more careful with my shots...It was my first real "battle" with it. It was super cool overtaking a ship just disappearing, opening the door to confused pirates to promptly dead ones...

2%?! Impossibru. You've alt tabbed perhaps? Because then the load dives immediately
Indeed I am running a 6950XT/5800X3D@3440x1440 and all my cores are ticking away at their max boost for an overall 45% usage. I'd be curious if it would increase even more at Atlantis for example.
Considering the info we've gotten the CPU is always gonna be "busy" sorting out the engines "nonsense"

New nvidia drivers 537.34

Fixed
  • Starfield Resizable BAR profile added, which improves performance by 5% on average. The update will be pushed via an Over-The-Air (OTA) update from NVIDIA and will be automatically applied for gamers running the latest Game Ready Driver (537.34) or the previous release (537.17).

Yeah that weapon is sweet :D Picked up the Mantis suit as well yesterday lol. Stealth is still The Way... did you try silencing a Coachman yet? It has 70ish base damage so imagine them stealth multipliers... accuracy is crap tho

OTA update? So they can just throw new code into existing drivers without you knowing? So you don't even control the software on your hardware anymore?

They're not really pushing new code, just changing the configuration options for certain executables (Starfield in this case). It's closer to modifying the options at the nvidia control panel. Not the first time they've done this either, I think they used the same method to fix the issue where Discord would downclock VRAM a few months back.

This is the second time in this game I have literally wished for a paperwork mini game, but it will never happen, will it? :(

Surely that's the very essence of balance.

Anyway, for me it's primarily the place to go for making games look better and for Starfield there are already several high-res (AI upscales) packs out which make a significant difference to the overall game. They're not good enough, but they'll have to do until Halk Hogan delivers his overhaul.

Easy, just head to the Nexus.
ah! well for me, aside the tolerance tweaker i will never get a mod that make a B class go that OP
it's already easy enough as it it with my curent build.

Surely that's the very essence of balance.

yep, my Skyrim curent profile is a pure Nexus curated (personal) build

Surely that's the very essence of balance.

Sure, but modders don't understand the concept has applications beyond the physical realm.

Not sure why that matters in the slightest. You're free to play your game the way you want and use whichever mods you want, or none, so surely that also applies to everyone else.

Sure, there are lots of mods I consider overpowered, silly, ugly and downright stupid on Nexus, but so far nobody has ever attempted to strongarm me into using them. Life's way to short to be bothered about what other people are doing which doesn't impact myself directly. Live and let live and all that.

obviously that's very true and Starfield, like Skyrim, is an offline game, and boy! i know how much i "tgm" the hell out of certain of my Skyrim runs nowadays

well ... i also intend to do the same and "mod silly" (and i mean "mod it until it crash" and not use mods that are silly or ugly  ) my starfield once the CK is out, after clearing it once or twice

oohhh ... well ...

i saw some player profile making new char look and describing the procedure to do so ...

thus, by the power of "SLM 14" (open racemenu) and "CAPP 14" (copy player appearance to selected NPC in console ) i shall make Sarah ... more to my liking ...

mmhhh... no, not quite ...
Photo_2023-09-13-040810.pngPhoto_2023-09-13-040818.png

alright, that's it ... given her accent ... redhead is the way (quite a few NPC have that haircut and piercing... tho none of them are follower so... yeah  ) it even goes well with her default outfit.

so, i saw a moon named Miranda (aka Uranus V ) it sparked a flashback to a movie ...

and then i saw that on Nexus ... emotional damage indeed ...

well, i want one with the quote

Hoban 'Wash' Washburne: This landing is gonna get pretty interesting.
Malcolm ‘Mal’ Reynolds: Define interesting.
Hoban 'Wash' Washburne: Oh, God, oh, God, we’re all gonna die?

and NO bloody hole!

Why would you wish for that? If you want to do paperwork, go get a job at a lawfirm. Trust me, you'll have more paperwork than you ever imagined!

Because it would have made sense. Seriously, this game would have been better if at those two points there had been a slightly tedious paper work mini game.

A mini game involving paperwork could never be slightly tedious I think. At least not after the second time.

For anyone struggling to get a foothold at the start like I was, picking up the Secret Outpost info and the Lair it leads to reaps HUGE rewards! Easy as pie to find too since that info is found looting corpses at the Nova Galactic Staryard while on The Old Neighborhood quest. In fact, I'll have to go back there after I upgrade my Security skill just to get a few things I missed.

Admittedly I figured that info would lead to something big, but I was worried I wasn't ready for the fight to get it.

Well I did burn through all of my medpacks in that Lair... Admittedly there wasn't a lot of tactics involved either from my end, but still :) Its not a free ride

Hang on, are you implying Bethesda knows what balance means beyond the physical realm then? :D These games are simply meant to be modded and broken beyond belief. IMHO its the only way to make them work for you. The vanilla game just oozes all kinds of 'but why' to begin with.

I mean go figure: the very mission everyone's talking about (Mantis) to get to that secret lair has a spacesuit at the end that makes you go invisible whenever you stand still. That's god tier stealth gear. Offered to you potentially 2-3 hours into the game. You're done after that balance wise, like, completely. Trouble? Just stand still.

To illustrate: a few days back I basically added every skill to my character that I liked, generated 9,5Mil credits and started the game for real. Building ships, chasing upgrades, and doing the odd mission in between to see how scaling works. Now I'm the god tier space pirate, without spending a few hundred hours doing nonsensical missions to 'farm gold'. Life's good :)

Just wanted to note that if you use mods achievements will be disabled. :D Was googling for a source to link to and just found out that there is already a mod out "to prevent achievements from being disabled with mods or when using the console". LMAO.

Btw. Bethesda has on their homepage STARFIELD wallpapers for download. :twitch: All sizes, for desktop & mobile: STARFIELD - Media Gallery
