Starfield discussion thread

Does anyone know how long until patches come out of beta?
Long list of fixes here in the next one. :)

I think I just got a power called "Sense Star Stuff". Now that's writin'!

Also, it was really nice to find how to keep the game "active" when tabbed out:

  1. Go to C:\Users\{YOUR NAME}\Documents\My Games\Starfield\
  2. Open StarfieldCustom.ini if it doesn't exist create it.
  3. If you create it make sure the file is a .ini!!!
  4. Add bAlwaysActive=1 under the [General] section.
  5. Save and enjoy!

I'm not sure what you are trying to ask man, I am sorry but your English is hard to understand here.

I have no idea, I currently don't have a gaming PC. Any Nvidia owners here that can answer?

The last patch is out of beta few days back now. Combine that with Adrenaline 24.2.1 drivers (haven't tested with 24.3.1) & when you launch the game, an in game graphics pre-set from Adrenaline GUI is enabled if you have it on Ultra settings in the game.
This is interesting, I've never seen AMD do this before with gaming, at least with games I like anyway.

Of course you can always turn them off & go your own custom settings. But just thought I'd mention it as its unusual to say the least.

Finished the game and

the ending was really ... nothing, echoing most of the main quest. Specifically I didn't like the binary choice* and I certinally didn't like all the stuff about "this is what you left behind". What I do absolutely like is how a new game is presented as a new (parallel) universe, which is nice, but what I would have done is make all the main NPC's slightly different, randomly. Like the Constellation people. Randomize the colours of their clothes, and slightly randomize their features. Just enough that they'll look different, but not too different.

It's also yet another example of how hard it is to make grand stories, but it's also sort of a good example of a Grand Story. It's a Grand Story, but it's also not, because while it is about big multi-dimensional stuff it's also NOT about the fate of those dimensions. You do make some decisions that will affect people, but the story itself is not about THE FATE OF REALITY™**. It's fundementally about you and what you want to do. Which I sort of like, but it also doesn't really work IMO. I have no idea what the good version of this looks like.

*it was the only way to end though I reckon.

**looking at you, Starcraft, the moment the Protoss got involved in the campaigns it went downhill IMO, I much rather play as salty SCV's and marines trying to survive (or Zergs trying to eat salty SCVs and marines!) than Ancient Noble Aliens Saving the Universe™.

So new game+ or whatever it's called, here I come! I except the Varuuun or whatever they're called will be part of a DLC, I would have liked to see more of them, they were interesting. Honestly I've never played a Bethesda game (and honestly very few other games of this sort) that I just want to play again after finishing it. As a contrast in Fallout 4 I never even talked to that Valentine fellow in Diomond City, because I genuinely didn't care about literally any of the main plot. Starfield at least makes sense.

I have an annoying game breaking bug in the 4th last phase of the MQ. Going to have to opt into steam beta program & try out the new beta patch, hopefully it will fix it otherwise I'll have to use the console - which I don't like doing in any game. Have over 180 hrs up on this game & I'm determined to finish at least the MQ!

So, any one still playing since the new patch came out? The patch changed a few things for the better, but they still need to add more content and make start bases useful other than XP farming.

I havent touched it some it was released, I stopped after 2 weeks and 110hrs.

Yes, all running well with extra map features in cities as a bonus. But there is still unusual NPC placement, at least in my spaceship! :D this in vanilla version.

Meh. What do you think?

Had to login, just for that thumb down. That was hard to watch until the end. Verified creators - what a sad bunch. TES used to have awesome modders, not a dumbass hipsters to represent a community. But it's just a reality check.
Someone remind me of this game if it ever gets flying mechanics of a NMS (landing on a damn planet, flying in the lower atmosphere), >100FPS (it doesn't look good to be that demanding), NPCs that aren't gaping like they expect a dentist's recommendation, and no loading screens.

I forgot to unsubscribe from this discussion long time ago. It's time to fix that.

I going to have to say that I am not overly wowed by the latest update as well and I am a little turned off at their pay to play move for stuff that should have been in the game for the price I paid for it.

So, how do you make yourself stand out as being even more greedy these days as a Producer?

Sell a single quest for $7. I hope this doesn't work out well for Bethesda but they have a history of doing shitty things to squeeze out a few more dollars from their AAA games.

Trying to introduce paid mods in Skyrim.

As soon as I found out about this, I uninstalled the game. Bethesda is so out of touch. I had hoped they'd learn the error of their ways and redeem Starfield like CDPR did with Cyberpunk, but it seems like that will not be so. Bethesda hasn't even admitted publicly that Starfield had its flaws, something they did for Fallout 76. They still probably believe it was a masterpiece and that the bad reviews are all "haters" and "trolls" who represent a tiny minority.

Sometimes I just love the sheer beauty & graphics in this game. Of course having a decent system to represent it on Ultra settings helps a lot. Here's a taste, at least as well as it can be displayed on here.
Since the last patch, I've had no issues with this game, smooth sailing all the way, despite the threads on steam crapping on the game...

Here's my customised "Mantis" spaceship. Ship building & upgrading is an interesting dynamic in this game, it can also be quite addictive! :D

It's a good game graphics and gameplay wise, it's just short on content and the method used to level up as Starborn via a whopping TEN NG+ runs makes it even more repetitious. These are things even many who love the game complain about. Also, after about 7 NG+ runs, I never once saw one of the drastically different scenarios the devs say can happen. Bethesda overhyped this game, as long as it took to make, it should have more.

At that point I moved on to other games. And that's coming from someone who has a MUCH better PC now than I had when I last played it, which could probably make it look as good as it does in your pics. If you want a good shooter RPG that has tons of content and procedurally rendered worlds and enemies you encounter, try Remnant II. Never a dull moment, and it has a MUCH broader range of challenge difficulty mode wise.

I did the 10 NG+ runs to obtain the highest level Starborn suit back when I played at launch. It doesn't have to be a full run, just the last segment. I have found a few of the alternatives, but alas. In that sense it's a little bit of a grind to encourage the player to find some of the alternate realities, which at least at the time felt closer to Easter eggs than any actual meat on the bone.

I'm looking forward to playing Starfield again once the DLCs fully release and the game has reached a high level of maturity.

I must confess it's giving me some reminiscing feelings of simpler times.

Having to play NG+ to unlock extras is the equivalent of "we can't be asked to make proper content, so just shut up and replay the game". The only game where it made sense to me was Alan Wake 2, but even there, I could have just watched the alternate ending on YouTube instead of going through the same stuff twice.

Having said that, I haven't played Starfield, yet, but I'm looking forward to it. Although, there's a 99% chance that I won't touch NG+.

You'd go insane with Yoko Taro's games. NieR Replicant 1.22 has 5 endings, Automata has an entire alphabet's worth (though 5 are "real endings" and the rest are joke endings)
