I like a bigger case for ventilation as well as most, but I do believe that Valve wouldn't have put this together in such a tight space if it didn't cool efficiently. It's one of the best put together little systems I have seen in a long while.

Just a question and thats all, but do the Amd cards work in the steam boxes? I seen a video on the tube about installing the software but it just said Nvidia

AMD video cards are currently not supported by SteamOS, so no AMD cards won't work in the Steam Boxes. At least not yet.

I wish they would sell the case alone, only thing I wonder about is that zalman heatsink

It should be fine for stock clocked CPUs. It's smaller than the stock Intel heatsink but performs better.

Overheating in 3,2,1...

Actually, I wouldn't be surprised if this thing runs cooler than builds in bigger cases. Even though this is a small form factor, every major part that produces heat gets direct fresh air. The GPU fan pulls air directly from outside the case, the CPU fan pulls air directly from outside the case, and the PSU fan pulls air directly from outside the case. No part is getting hot air from inside the case, which usually isn't true with a big build actually.

I have built 5 SSD systems on AMD APU's and the customer wanted "big impressive boxes". The mixture of swirling warm air makes it harder to cool than if I got to use the much smaller cases I wanted.

The only reason to have a huge case is to fit a huge radiator, or heatsink in it.

Check out the Silverstone RVZ01, I think that is actually the base for the SteamBox.

The Silverstone power supply was a hint, but then when I saw the Silverstone branded PCI-E riser I kind of knew it was a Silverstone case.

Not that kind of surprised. Show me another case manufacturer out there that's pushed the envelope of what a case is more over the last few years. Okay, okay, ultra expensive/semi-custom disqualified.
