strange problem with my drive any chance of some help?

im a having a wierd problem i have just installed a 2nd drive its a dvd rom drive i have set the jumpers to slave as my dvd wr is master when i go into my computor the dvd rom drive shows up as dvd drive and the wr drive shows up as dvd wr all sounds good but when i put my FEAR game into my dvd wr drive it didnt load up i went into my computor and the dvd wr drive was now showing cd drive and when i went to open it, it said please enter some form of media.

sorry if that sounds all confusing

Odd. You could try setting both drives to cable select, or try updating the firmware for the new drive.

i no i have set the jumpers the correct way and i have the master end of the ide cable in the master and slave in the slave jumper etc but also when i go into the bios i cant seem to find these 2 ide drives do u no what they would be under in the bios?

the thing is the drive does work just sometimes when u put a game it will autoplay and load up and then other times u can put a game in and nothing happens go 2 my comp and click open on my D: and it saysplease insert a disk madnessssssssssssssssssssssssssss

It's either Firmware or Driver. Check for updated drivers on Drive site. Also check Mobo manuel for possable jumper settings or maybe it must be set to "cable Select" as mentioned before. Not all Mobo's work the same.

I had this problem once, and switching from master/slave to "cable select" fixed the problem.

ok guys cheers 4 ya help very much appriciated it seems to be ok for now but if it happens again i will set both drives 2 cable select also one last thing where would the drives be under in the bios i cant seem 2 find them anywhere?

also try a new cable if it goes out again, it sounds like thats your problem. moving the ribbon around is probly why it started working again.
