comments and feed back can not be classed with a survey they are totally diffirent. Are you playing devils advocate? because I guess Im just failing to see what the issue with a survey rally would be. Its not like science fiction. Its not like it would take alot of time. TPU did it for 2 years in a row a few years back and I think once before that. Im sure he just doesnt delete all of the templates for this kind of thing. Perhaps it doesnt serve a purpose. It obviously does not serve any of yours. But even if it does boil down to "just fun" whats the harm in that? Do we need to be omgwtf hardware elitests all the time? Im sorry I actually dont know why i replied. no one in this thread uses LN2 to clock so I shouldnt be talking to any of you.

There is no harm in a survery. I cannot argue that.
I AM playing devil's advocate, not to kill the idea, but to get you to give ideas on a survey that would not just collect random information, but to collect info that in your thoughts would better TPU.

If you want to discuss ideas what you think should be in a TPU survey, and why, why not start a thread on that, instead of just posting in a thread that says we should have a survey?

We don't drop the ban hammer on ideas or opinions unless you take it upon youself to cross the line of the TPU guidelines. Especially here in Comments and Suggestion.
We want to hear your comments and ideas. State them and defend them, but don't turn into some kind of wacked out internet troll that has to resort to cursing and flaming if your idea is not well received.

I've had ideas completely shot down. So be it.

Think about it, isn't that the way TPU has been in the comments section for a long time now?

I wasnt implying the system was unfair. It just seemed like you had already reached a verdict. I also fully understood how my post could have come off "troll" like So I was just trying to be careful.

I always find the gathering of seemingly useless information useful. I've noticed time to time here that there's an awful lot of forum posters that seem to only post once a month, or who visit that haven't been active in years. Many people who don't have crazy expensive systems and overclocks. There seems to be a lot of potential to learn things that aren't apparent just from glancing at the forums. pro/con off the top of my head -

Pros - Something like this would probably provide a few statistics not known by other means. It would be enjoyable for visitors of the site, and it may earn a few bucks in clicks, or not, I'm not sure if this site makes an ad profit or not. It could even be possible a manufacturer would read the results and decide this would be a good site to send a product to review as a result of some demographic nobody had expected to be viewing this site.

Cons - Effort? Not really sure how difficult it is to post a poll on the main site, but with how it seems tied to the forum system I'd imagine it's not much harder than it would be to post a poll thread. Plus picking what questions to ask.. which hopefully this thread could give suggestions on. We just seem to be hung up on if it will even happen part.

If you could get a decent sponsor, say a mother board designer, you could ask what you would like to see changed to the motherboards that kind of thing. I was thinking along the lines of the GPU graphics survey just much bigger and includes more information about the user.

It would also be interesting, in my mind, to compare the results with the last survey we did, it must be around somewhere and see how people have changed their hardware. Questions like what you use your computer for may also help TPU stay on the right track in providing the right services. There's not much point bta finding and publishing shit tons of news about the next xbox console when no one cares (used as an example, i'm sure people would care).

Also improvements could be made to the site, asking everyone who participates what they would like to see added to the forum, or removed. Maybe the start of a monthly newsletter, or round up of the stories and goings on.

All the ideas that get tossed about, like the addition of a gadgets section, can be once and for all asked to the members if they actually want, if we do... it can be added for a month trial or something.
