Jon "elmor" Sandström decided to have another crack at the record books, and was recently gratified. Using a fully modded ASUS P5W64 WS Pro, a Core 2 Extreme X6800, 2GB of Mushkin XP2-8500 (running on a 1:1 ratio at 3-3-3-5), an S3 Trio64+ PCI graphics card, a Silverstone Zeus 850W power supply, and of course, several liters of liquid nitrogen, Elmor set a new Core 2 Duo speed record. His Core 2 Extreme X6800 reached speeds of 5854 MHz, as proven by his CPU-Z Validation. Rumor has it that Elmor still has 30 liters of LN2, and is going to try beating the SuperPi record.

Good GOD! I didn't know the X6800 had a multi of 14x???

Also, anyone know the current SuperPi record?

Stock multiplier is 11, but since it is the extreme edition you can go up to 14.

woah very nice voltage!

can you keep it running like that or is it temporary?

If you mean the 1.275 that CPU-Z is reporting, that voltage is way off.

might not be, because of the liquid nitrogen cooling though ? or thereabouts anyway :toast:

still a damn nice oc on that pointless as you couldnt run it like that 24/7 but v nice none the less

Amazing overclock!.....The current SuperPi WR is 8.89s.

I doubt it, CPU-z is terrible with reading correct voltages on Core 2 Duos.

manages to read mine ok aside from when i go above 1.45

yeah its below 9s thats all I knew, thanks for that update on the world record.

That is a stupid crazy speed, but I hope he gets to 6Ghz. What would really be nice if he had a nice supply of LN2 to "circulate" and run it like that constantly. Hell, Load times down to 3 seconds and what not.

CPU-Z needs to put another 1 at the beginning of the voltage

lol, my A64 X2 4600+ runs at 2.6GHz at 1.5V

Well Mushkin couldn't pay for better advertising.... it amazes me that those two 1gb sticks of XP2-8500 stock @ 5-5-4-12 could run @ 3-3-3-5 :toast:
:respect:

So at 1:1, these 1066MHz modules are running @ 1672MHz? Is that correct? :twitch:

what do those numbers mean anyway? I allways wondered

there running at 418(bus speed x 4=fsb) ddr 936

ok, so they were actually underclocking the ram, which probably helped bump the timings up.

Sooo close to 6Ghz. I bet it pissed him off LOL.

To run a system continuously on liquid nitrogen you would need a honking big compressor and a chiller. There are such systems in commercial use, but it isn't the sort of thing that you would want in your hobby room. You would certainly have the world bragging rights though. I sure wish I knew what those motherboard mods were. That where my limitations always are.

Very well done cooling, and very nice OC. Also... no video card lol, guess hes going for pure function speed, not going for any 3dmark records
