T9300 processor new ebay scratches\cracks in die ?

After 5 minutes CPU-Z Stress test <60*C ?

Well that settles it , as far as I am concerned there is absolutely nothing to be done , everything works like it is supposed to. Hell those temps are even better than I would've expected.

If there really is a film on this it must be one of those new thermally conductive types. I am out , the witch hunt may carry on.

I don't know it isn't hurting the temperatures and it takes time to open the laptop and check it. Might pull it out some day to check it...
I asked the seller and waiting the answer from China.

its probably a metal thermal pad they used a lot of them

I bought a T8300 a while ago, there was no film on it and it doesn't look like like yours has it.

It's just a bit scratched, and the temps are fine so I wouldn't worry about it.

Temps are fine , if it works how you need it, than don't worry about it.

That looks like plastic film...

I did have actual scratches on my 5820K IHS and it was originally sealed Intel box. After some asking around, people said that Intel does test some CPU's during manufacturing and that's where scratches come from (mine was apparently the one getting checked). All doubt about it was gone when it clocked to 4.5GHz at only 1.15V and it's still running happily at that clock and voltage like total champ. I stopped worrying about it hehe

If it's not a plastic film, then refund it. But I think it's exactly this and not really scratches. Those would look different.

I've had scratched CPU's that look a lot worse than that and they worked fine, the really bad ones I have used a file on, then polished with wet and dry paper.

For $14.00 You expect Brand new? They sent me one missing resistors and missing contact pads but claimed it work(mine was a Xeon)I sent it back they claimed it was parts only worth $50 so im not gonna pay $150 for something they claim only worth $50. Mine looked like it was on a lab floor being trampled on, no wonder they were selling with no picture of the CPU pure junk.

I would let the seller know, show the photos, and see what they do. They may refund it and tell you to keep it, in which case might as well continue to use but keep an eye on it, or they may resend you a new one, then you can throw this one away if you don't like it.

It is probably not new, they part out old corporate computers and sell the remnants.

If the chip had flaws, I'd send it right back.

When you buy old CPUs from China, you should expect them to be used.
I bought an E5450, X3430 and X3440 from China and they were all used. There was light scratching on the headspreaders here and there, but the CPUs work without issue and overclock well.

Someone really messed up spreading the thermal paste with metal object, the CPU fell face down on rough surface (eg. concrete) or something else happened.
It's very easy to scratch the top layer - I know because a screwdriver slipped out of my hand and struck the die on my P8700. The screwdriver barely touched the CPU, but made a very visible scratch on the die. CPU is working perfectly for 2+ years, despite the scratch.

Your CPU looks like the real one, made in March 2008 in Malaysia. It should have come in some plastic case and if it was new, there shouldn't be any scratches whatsoever. If you paid 14$ for it, it's certainly not new. It could be refurbished, but the seller should clearly mark that, because otherwise it would be manipulative advertising. New ones are averaging about 19$.

Yes double checked no film.
It has multiple scratches and ebay refunded.
I used Paint shop pro PSP and contrast to make scratches more clear maybe that is why it looks like a plastic protection film.

Often the Chinese sellers will offer refund but don't want the CPU back. Might as well keep using it but just keep an eye on it as far as monitoring for instability, errors, etc.

Thank you so much for doing that. I was thinking about offering you a small payment to. Just to make it worth your while. As I was 100% certain there was no plastic film on it. That was one of the stupidest ideas I've ever heard mentioned on this site. Top 5 at least. And I really felt like it needed to be debunked. So dumb...it was painful to endure. :banghead:

Easy there, killer. I've personally received such a laptop processor with a plastic film over the die. It's pretty common, and that's what it looks like in the picture. We posed the question, and the OP ruled it out. No need to get snarky about it.

Anyone bought a china ebay core2duo CPU like: T8300, T9300, T9500 or X9000 and could confirm they really have a film when new ?
I've never seen any film that you speak of. I also tend to steer clear of ebay. I've purchased a few CPU's that come in retail boxes and a few that just come in a little protective plastic case. None have every had any film on them new or used. Though, I wouldn't put it past some 3rd party seller doing something like this.
