This is my argument against the "you should've just used google" phrase that members love to toss around back and forth to eachother. This is usually thrown around by people who know that a question being asked is generally common knowledge amongst the rest of us TPU'ers. Just imagine if every single one of us TPUers used google every single time we had a question, problem, etc. There would be virtually no activity on TPU (aside form GN, most likely)!
TPU is generally a place to ask questions and receive answers. So what if the question could have been solved with a quick googling from someone like a tech-knowledgeable person like you or me? The person asking the question obviously doesn't know the answer to the question or they wouldn't be asking it anyway. If we didn't ask questions, all we would have is a bunch of answers, and there's no activity between a bunch of answers; just like there's no activity between two recievers, you need a reciever and a transmitter, you need a question and an answer for activity. Without questions, TPU wouldn't exist.
What if they already tried googling something? A lot of times, googling leads to nothing, or it leads to a bunch of questions and no answers, or at least, wrong answers that don't solve the aforementioned question. Sometimes if you have a question you don't even know what you're supposed to look for! If you look in the Games section of this forum, you'll see something like "BF2142 video issues". This is a question I currently have, and here's what happens when I use google: BF2142 video issues. The first entry is my question, that doesn't help. The second and third entries are YouTube videos, none of which help. The fourth entry looks promising, but it's nothing like my problem. The fifth entry is about hacks, which doesn't help at all. The 6th entry is Tweakguides, that doesn't help either. The 7th entry is more BF2142 movies, that doesn't help. Obviously this doesn't help.
So please, next time you think about telling someone to just use google, remember this post.
