The Last Of Us Part 2 Performance Benchmark

You can use DLSS 4 via replacing the DLSS dll :

Follow those instructions:
Just cause you use the dll doesn't mean Transformer model is used instead of default CNN model.

Read the Reddit post, you can force DLSS 4 Transformer model on all your games by using the Preset K in NvidiaProfileInspector.

Most of Sony’s older game titles prove that RT is simply overhyped. It’s more to give Nvidia an advantage but at the expense of significant performance loss regardless of hardware. I’ve played Horizon Zero Dawn, Forbidden West, God of War and Ghost of Tsushima, and never once did I feel that the lighting and image quality is anywhere subpar without RT.

Those games are really well made, well optimized, and probably made with a lot of love and passion for it and the video game industry too. I guess some people do it for the money and the bling-bling.

Do you guys list somewhere which specific versions of the cards your using? Or should we just presume all are Founders Editions? I'd imagine based on your prior testing the Astral 5090 would be 5% higher than FE.

You don't even need to change DLLs or Use third party Profile Inspector. You can literally just use the official Nvidia App, select TLOU Part II, and select use "K" preset. Launch the game and you're now using Transformer Model. It's officially supported with 30 seconds of changing the option in the official app.

As someone who played lot of RT games, TLOU part 1 lighting looks bland, and somehow part 2 looks worse? Eww...

And they charge 50usd for this? Eww...so much love and passion for money

I don't use the Nvidia App it's just a new Nvidia GeForce Experience which I hate and never install ! :)

TLOU lighting is baked lighting but it still looks great! What are you talking about? A lot of people including reviewers are actually praising the lighting. Sure it's not RT/PT but it still looks photorealistic at times.

For a 2025 game it looks subpar. They are selling this as a new game, it better looks like a proper 2025 game, not having RT/PT is not a proper reason, it's more like a cash grab thing

Interesting to see Blackwell pulling away from Ada a bit here..

Adding RT/PT would have been a lot of work and cost too much money... The Remaster was made for PS5 and without RT, so of course they're not going to add it for the PC version only! Unless Naughty Dog decide to do a PS5 Pro Update with RT, that could be added to the PC version, otherwise they are not going to do it because it'snnot worth it financially. Maybe they will release it again on PS6 with RT/PT and then on PC. Wait and see.

Another amazing review! Which 5090 was used?
FE

Hi @W1zzard what area did you chose to benchmark? Because my 4090 even at Stock gets around 100-110fps most of the time so the fact that you get 95fps is a bit weird though.
Near the theatre area

They are all FE/reference, or closest-to-reference where no FE/reference exists

This has been added to the test setup page: "All cards used for comparison are Founders Edition / reference design. If a reference card does not exist, we use the closest mode to ensure default clocks and power limit"

The game seems pretty Memory Bandwidth bound! When I OC my 4090's GDDR6X chips to 25Gbps I get a good performance boost...

Would you mind sharing a screenshot just to have an idea where to look at?

its a 2020 game with a very minor face lift and port to pc. Upside seems to be decently optimized that very high settings a 4070 runs avg 90 fps at 1440p without need for dlss.

I´m running the PC of my specs @1440p everything in High, no FG, FSR 4 native AA and was ok for like 2 and a half hours of gameplay but started to get constant: "0x887A0006 - DXGI_ERROR_DEVICE_HUNG" crashes. 9070XT on latest AMD Radeon Graphics Drivers 25.3.2 Beta. Anyone with the same issue?
Try to do a clean install of the drivers.

Is my 13700k really holding me back this much? With a vanguard 5090 at 4k im getting 80-90 fps

In this game? Yes. Look at GPU usage % in your overlay. CPU bottleneck varies big time depending on location.

In almost all other games, not a problem 13700K is still a great CPU

While i appreciate Nvidia for innovating, you gotta see the pattern, hairworks, physx, raytracing, dlss.
They invent some gimmick and push it to game developers until it's a standard, from all the things they did i can only appreciate DLSS, other ones are just to mess with AMD.
We can all agree that if Last of us had ray tracing, the minimum bar for max graphics would be very high and the improvements hard to see.

These games were originally intended to target PS5 hardware, preferably at 60 fps. Of course they won't come will level of RT implementation seen in games like CP2077

I agree RT is overhyped, and games can look great without them (and run better, obviously.)

But disagree with the comment on GoT at least. It was a frequent annoyance traveling at night in that game and seeing NPCs inside houses with either no, or next to no lighting, fully lit up as if they were bathed in moonlight from all directions. That doesnt require RT to address, but lets be clear it was not done well at all.

CP2077 was launched in 2020 and is Nvidia's showcase for every new gpu generation, RTX3000, rtx4000 and now RTX5000, people complain about PS5 remasters but CP2077 gets "remastered" every new Nvidia generation, RT overdrive, pathtracing, fake frames...etc.
CP2077 is number 45 in steam charts as current playing while Monster Hunter Wilds is numbers 6 but no one wants to use it in GPU reviews.

Those games also run and looks 10X better than this junk releases on Unreal Engine 5.

Last of us part 2 is sitting at #80 on steam player count.
Did anyone fork out 50usd everytime CB2077 got a new update?
Heck The Witcher 3 next gen patch also came out for free...
Btw Monster Hunter Wilds is interesting choice because it's the most unoptimized POS LOL, people still play it regardless
