...just checked on Metacritic and saw the crap ratings. Glorious! :laugh
A mere 1.9/10 average rating from 2306 combined user reviews on 360, PS3 and PC.

Holy CRAP! Maybe they should have called this title Call of Duty Blows.

I was just reading through this article earlier today where GameCentral interviewed Mark Rubin, trying their best to get answers to all the hard question that have stirred up controversy regarding 720p vs 1080p on Xbone and PS4, the space scenes, etc. I couldn't help but think though that the real thing they don't want to admit, esp Activision, is that the new IW are nowhere near as good as the ones that were fired and left.

http://metro.co.uk/2013/11/05/call-...-that-were-not-allowed-to-talk-about-4173810/

Here's to West and Zampella, whom are no doubt getting a good chuckle out of the reception on this one. :toast:

A 20.9GB update just downloaded automatically today and it's fixed the video problems I reported in my OP, so it might well fix yours.

"Call of Duty Blows."

"Call of Duty Blows." lol
I take it back!

Seriously, I had a chance to play through much of it and IMO it's better than BF4, well, the sp campaign anyway.

20GB update! How many days did that take to complete? :ohwell:

x-bone? LOL!!!

No seriously, rather lets get next MoH, that is a ducky jumpy game but better.
MoH is done. EA stripped it from their rotation. Then im sure people from Danger Close got hired at DICE to help with BF4.

Black Ops II was better imho. Ghosts just feels like it's lacking something. The story they are trying to tell with the loading scenes is very intriguing but it's not realized the way it should have been in the gameplay.

Ok, that's great it's better than you thought, so there is hope yet for Ghosts yet, lol. Now, I haven't played either BF3 or BF4 yet so I can't compare them, but I've seen lots of people on the forum reckon the BF series is better, so you might just get a bit of disagreement over that one. ;)

21 gigs? The PC did it automatically while I was away from it, so I didn't actually see, but my downloads max out at around 17-18Mb/s so it doesn't take very long at all, maybe an hour or so? The best bit is that there's no data cap from my ISP! :D

Most seem to rate them on mp though. I'm talking strictly sp, like I said.

If it's a 21Gb update it's basically re-downloading the whole game.... I've already beat it and I seriously doubt i'll ever replay it. MP feels just like the last 40 they've made.

Ok, I've properly played it for around 30 minutes now and can say that I like it, pretty much like all the other versions I've played.

Also, the new game engine seems to do a good job of reducing the straight edges on curved surfaces such as arches or scope sights too although you can still see them, making them look more realistic.

For those that disapprove of me liking CoD, your disdain can now grow a bit more by knowing that I play my CoD games on the easiest Recruit level!

Noticed that right off the bat too, but the more one praises the game, the less popular one becomes, so I'll let you take credit for that. LOL

update Radeon drivers to beta ones, as that gives 11.2 dtx support. without it, you wont be able to run high or normal texture settings.
11.2 comes with tiling in textures.

Also, that 21GB update the other day is likely to fix problems like this too. It sorted out the minor video glitches I reported in my OP, for example.

I tried clicking the News link from within the Steam client which didn't have anything, hadn't looked any further than that. I tried googling for it now, but couldn't find any release notes.

After playing the game for only a few minutes, it revealed Extinction Mode when I went back to the menu, which sounds interesting.

The Extinction game mode, which has been described as a four-player cooperative survival mode, will pit players against waves of aliens. The mode will feature aspects of survival and scavenging, and will even have its own upgrade system. In Extinction, each playable character will possess a unique class, with his or her abilities meant to compliment the abilities of the other players on the team. In other words, the Extinction game mode comes across, somewhat, as the natural evolution of the Zombies game mode, which has been featured in the Call of Duty titles produced by Treyarch.
Read the rest at the link below, which also has a trailer for it:

What platform is it? If it's Steam then it won't let you.

It is from GMG. I entered the key in Steam of course. Never did this before. But the other day some steam player contacted me to sell his stuff...

Platform...?, It is PC. thanks!

Once you've put the key into Steam, then it's permanently associated with your account and can't be changed even if you raise a support ticket.

The only way to sell it is to have one game per Steam account and sell the access to the whole account. Is this what you're doing?

no way would i sell my account (unless I mature certain idea...)!
so even if I buy a physical game DVD, after registering it with Steam (many times mandatory in order to just PLAY it) I cannot sell it????? What theft is this! Seems like it is all shittier as expected. Bravo to the new economic model, ZZZzzzZZZzzz

Some unofficial patch notes:

  • The Operations page is now showing total kills required, instead of showing certain level requirements, and in private match, you can add 6 rounds in SnD, and make the timer 1.5 minutes per round.
  • The ”devgru intimidator” operation has also been increased from from 150 to 300.
  • There's now a new mute screen, which allows you to select specific players to mute, or mute all.
  • Fix for the issue where players weren’t able to change the person they were spectating in S&R.
  • Operations items have been changed – you need to spend squad points to unlock certain ones, and thus it shows exactly what you need to unlock certain items.

The above is from an article commenting on the PS3 patch, but from what I've read, these are changes being made across all platforms. Of course it also probably fixes the Steam overlay problems as mentioned.

IMO Extinction Mode doesn't look that interesting. It's L4D/PayDay style play that can be done solo or up to 4 person coop with VERY repetitious gameplay putting drills on alien hives. It's just too cartoonish and shallow for me to take it seriously.
