If youre after Arch based, I highly suggest EndeavourOS over Manjaro.

Manjaro is great if you dont plan to add packages outside Manjaro Repo like the AUR.

But Manjaro just breaks AUR packages since Manjaro style is to held the updates, and some AUR depends on newer depencies / packages, and thats the reason why it breaks the AUR packages. Plus Manjaro have quite lots of histories for not updating their security stuff

I have more breakages on 1 week of using Manjaro over 3 yrs of Vanilla Arch.

EOS have move their default DE to Plasma on their last release from xfce

You do know Manjaro can be switched between stable, testing and unstable right? Also I use AUR a lot, and everything is working. I can install things that would be
impossible under Ubuntu. If you want continuous updating, then unstable would be for you. Frequent but not all the time, then testing. The regular stable is good for
newbies who won't be touching AUR. Endeavor was a pain for me and just didn't get it done. After years of Kubuntu I'm totally sold on it now..... And the other comment
about running windows in a vm under linux... why would I run windows any other way?

Well interesting whats coming to Manjaro... I run testing and unstable branches in vms, and unstable of course gets everything first. Looks like we're up to version 6.01 of plasma
and kernel 6.7.9 already! Oh and Wayland is now the default:

I use to hate pipewire, but now that you have to use it... I'm getting more accustomed... I don't like that I have to set the pipewire engine to 192k sampling at all times, but
you set pulse-config to whatever alternates you want. So it'll switch between 48, 96 and 192, but the pipewire engine stays at 192. Weird but it works. Also it doesn't like 44100.

Well I love Manjaro and Arch even more now. After years of fighting to make samba work, manjaro forced me to use many command line executions. Creating folders, setting permissions.
Creating users, adding to sambashare, setting pws... good lord. Also learned how to remount ntfs volumes so I can share those. Now I can share to linux, windows, android and probably anything
else! A screen of manjaro testing accessing my music collection on manjaro stable host:

honestly, cant say.... I dropped plasma 4 before in favor with cinnamon and went back to plasma 5 and was surprised how plasma 5 got snappier than ever...

However, for a year already, I went to a full WM (hyprland) but still keep plasma on my system..

In which metrics is Plasma 6 faster than Plasma 5?

The login time for Plasma was always slow for me in the past on the EVO 850 500GB + old i3-3240.

Now that I have the 12600KF + EVO 850 500GB hardware combination, the login became fast on Calculate Linux + XFS.

I measure +- 2.5 seconds total login time. It is decent for KDE Plasma 5 I suppose.

I don't really believe Plasma 6 will be a faster experience than what I see right now on Calculate Linux.

Only small gains seem possible because Plasma 5 is rather optimized on this specific distro.

I used openSUSE while in uni, but I had a bad habit of breaking Tumbleweed without warning. Leap, however, was solid as heck.

Well, I see that this thread has been around for a while, but I just noticed it today...

And I thought that, judging by the title, that it was about posting cool-looking screenshots, a large number of which are X'd out/blocked/banned/deleted, or worse, the ones that do show up have those stupid watermarks and/or file explorer & app windows all over them, but clicking through the various pages, it seems like more of a discussion about the pros & cons of the various nix builds/versions ect...very disappointing !

Guess I'll go back to some other screenshot threads elsewhere
