I have a big problem with this thermal paste.
Im would like to upgrade my cpu cooler with the 3rd fan. My plan: im take out the large cooler put on the fan + im refresh the thermal paste and put back.
When im cleaning the cooler im realized white dots. I didn't know what it was, the surface is rough like sandpaper or cat tongue, and im check a little close my cpu surface, these spots are in my cpu surface too, i'm shocked.
Im made images when first time assembly my pc, the cpu surface was totally nice and flat, when im peel off the foil from cpu cooler totally flawless, and now my new Ryzen 2700 and my new DeepCool Assassin III cooler is tottaly not okay, these are expensive parts. This Kryonaut grease is react with aluminium.

Im wrote several emails to TG and one day im got reply:

Hello,
Kryonaut does not react with aluminium. Can you send us some pictures of the cpu surface

Im sent several images and they still not reply.
Worst company so far I have met.

They seem to be proactive, albeit slow.

I know it sucks, but give it time.

Believe me when I say TPU feels your pain, but so far you are getting on better than most of us did with Innivative Cooling products.

That's not an Aluminium surface.
That is Nickel plated Copper I believe.
Either way the paste was abrasive and caused damage by scratching and pitting the surfaces.

They literally come with a certificate of authenticity now because of claims like this. I recall my earlier uses it was very thick and that spatula was necessary. The last 2; tubes I’ve bought in the last couple months it’s was like MX4 in fact when I did my 5700XT I used too much because I expected to need more pressure. The little tube that came with my new EK block was a bit thicker But I have no worries of using it on bare GPU dies .

are you sure it's from the kryonaut or not from any contamination like from the previous paste or the way you clean it before applying the kryonaut?
could be bad batch or have you take a look at the paste, any sand like there?

It definitely looks like some kind of reaction happened. Was it during the manufacturing process of the heatsink, or was the tim a catalyst? Did you ever wash that heatsink with soap and water?

Benchmark Scores Don't know any benchmark. It runs good enough for me.
I saw your post on reddit before. I understand I would get upset when my brand spanking new air cooler get scratches too. I can assure you aside from cosmetic imperfection they would not affect performance at all. Even a normal standard silicone or black cheap thermal paste would scratch the heatsink base anyway from my experience with my Scythe Fuma 1. Thermal paste contains aluminium particles or carbon particle. WIth a strong mount like an assassin cooler it would scratch the base up.

Now that I see this, I get it why all my coolers have some odd marks/ scratches on them after removing them. Same like TS, I am using Kryonaut as the thermal compound. I never ran into issues like this when using Arctic Silver, MX4 and IC Diamond. Its a bad experience to be honest. This happened to 3 of my coolers (1 water cooler, 2 air coolers) where the base of the cooler looks somewhat defaced. Tried wiping with alcohol and it did not solve the problem. Its not just scratches, but there are odd marks on both the cooler base and also the IHS of the processor.

While it is true they contain traces of metal/carbon particles, at least I have never experience this kind of defacing of IHS and cooler base like the Kryonaut. I've used IC Diamond before but did not experience such defacing issue (though the problem with IC Diamond is that when it dries up, it is very difficult to remove the cooler from the processor). Likely the last time I am buying it even if it is supposedly the best non conductive thermal compound.

Hi,
Waiting for someone to say intel or amd denied rma because of chip damages
Coppers easy to buff out, nickle plating good luck with that is TG replacing coolers/ water blocks, I guess no.
