"Thief" Optimized for AMD Technologies

You know they will claim this and watch it run better on nVidia :nutkick:

These comments amuse me. Only because, in the past you could replace the word "AMD" with "Nvidia" and it would be equally true. :)

At least, it's good to see these companies learning from each other.

lol. yes. so true

You know they will claim this and watch it run better on nVidia :nutkick:

no one knows since the next upcoming games are still porting from next gen consoles.
i would consider to turn back to amd on next upgrade on their next gen cards based on 20nm technology.

"Optimized for AMD Technologies" - a.k.a. doing nothing except making it run artificially worse on nvidia hardware after passing some cash under the table.

If that's the case they're not doing a very good job as some Gaming Evolved titles perform better on comparable nVidia hardware. Some GE titles use nVidia Physx too (I don't think nVidia would allow a TWIMTBP title to use TressFX for example).

If the optimization helps both camps shouldn't AMD do it regardless?

No that's TWIMTBP that artificially hurts the other company. AMD GE is more of a marketing thing to get the name out. It's not a bad idea either since no one seems to know what AMD is in the real world. Hopefully at startup the PS4 and the ONE both pop a big gaming evolved banner at start up.

This is easily my fave fanboy thread of the month.

A new Thief game is good news, regardless of who it's optimized for.

So are the guys posting negatively just super fanboys, or are they nVidia Focus Group members? I've seen some of them posting on various enthusiast sites recently, and many have dropped their focus group sigs and lie about owning AMD, then switching to nV.

Either way, it's stupid to start fights over hardware and software. Unless you're picking on the new XBOX.

So, if competition doesn't matter I hope instant piracy on AMD's titles won't hurt your feelings.

+1 to both of those :) :toast:

....not even sure what that means, much less where it comes from....:slap:

That's all well and good but why is the bloke in the picture wearing a corset?

So will this be better than Dishonored?? Also the original Thiefs were so good because they were using sound hardware acceleration like A3D or DS3D. Is this going to offer support for at least OpenAL??

So why replaying? Feeling lonely?

Since won't be article about this I put this here.

Nvidia is better because they won't play with high numbers. Repeat twice for more advanced tech.

Question: How can you say not playing with numbers and link to a slide saying "Pushing the Industry Forward"

Nvidia still doesnt fully support the latest Direct X 11.1. You'll have to wait for Maxwell if your cheering for the Green team. I guess its okay or good enough when you leave out the .1 support for two generations of your products.

/rally the green team cheering squad

Wow they are bringing that sexy redhead Ruby back ,I thought they axed her ass when AMD dropped ATI name brand.

Really guys think about that .1 in DX11.1.... Maybe AMD has the.1 coded for there cards....just saying....And yes this is what i said awhile ago about AMD holding out until the games and console catch up .......

So many fanboys, so little informations. Typical.

Can't we just all hold hands and sing Kumbayah or something?

Because "Pushing the Industry Forward" has nothing to do with numbers? And I was referring to used tech numbers.

As for DX11.1 it's nothing wrong. AMD Advocacy Group already investigated that Kepler is only gaming GPU so it's nothing wrong disable non-gaming features, right?

We did not enable four non-gaming features in Hardware in Kepler (for 11_1):

Target-Independent Rasterization (2D rendering only)
16xMSAA Rasterization (2D rendering only)
Orthogonal Line Rendering Mode
UAV in non-pixel-shader stages

Remember AMD's fake slides? Yes, they do exists. : D

I can't believe the amount of asshattery contained in one thread.

Of course games are going to be "Optomized for AMD", all of the next gen consoles will be using AMD hardware! Does it mean that games won't work on systems with nVidia hardware? No! Developers will optomized their games to work on that hardware as well. SHOCKER

It's a freaking marketing gimmick, and you all fell for it. AMD might be the greatest troll known to man, but then the amount of asshattery contained in the "nVidia fights HIV" thread was just as preposterous.

Agree. But have you played the last Metro game on AMD card with Physics on?? The game just cuts almost in half the fps, and I don't mean for the scenes with pshy effects. How much trolling can nVidia do???!??

No, but I played the first Metro game without PhysX. I don't really care about it either, sure it's a cool effect n'all, but it's not really needed to enjoy a game.

A company is going to push features that work for their products, if nVidia wants to pay developers to use PhysX in their games, then so be it, it's their money and they can market it anyway they want to.

I find some PhysX effects quite enjoyable to be honest, like the ones in Mafia II, Metro LL, Borderlands 2, Timeshift, etc.

Hope this "optimizted for AMD" thing won't turn into Deus Ex Human Revolution story on the long run, but some former Nvidia games also ran craplike on AMD cards, so .....;)

sure it's a cool effect n'all, but it's not really needed to enjoy a game.
I have to agree, while Physx looks really nice in some games and indeed enriches the experience (I personally kinda like it sometimes), it's still just a graphical effect, nothing more.
