Think VR Is Dying? It's Just Getting Started, Says HTC

It's not about whether it's good for some things or not. I just don't care to see it become ubiqutous. I also don't think it's versatile. You have to be in certain positions and conditions to utilize it. AND have to wear some things on your head and shut out what's happening in my world at any given time. I don't like that either... I still like to be alert to other people, dangers, phone calls, etc.. whilst gaming.

As we're speaking though, I'm typing this from my bed.. barely just woken up.. on my TV with a wireless keyboard. This should indicate how casual I am with games. I have a monitor too when I feel like it, but I'll game in this position most of the time. It's a LAZY hobby to me. Not some busy activity, like I once used to do at Arcades (that's where VR could shine, if anything).

have you tried any race sims with your Vive? What vive do you have, the pro or normal one?
I have the regular normal one. I have tried racing sims with it and it's amazing. I also have a triple monitor setup and it doesn't hold a candle to it in racing sims. The ability to move your head inside the car is amazing and really helpful as well. I have project cars and I've tried a few others.

I play Fallout 4 VR sitting down and relaxed. I agree I don't want to be busy playing all the time either, but I can assure you that room scale VR is amazing. It's hard to explain, but once you try it you'll be hooked.

i THINK i will get the vive, but only the normal one not the pro.....i hope i like it..... tested the Galaxy with VR and was pretty cool but this should be way better than that. IF THEY ARE EVER IN STOCK TO BUY. https://www.vive.com/us/product/vive-virtual-reality-system/

Have you even read what I said? I don't want ANY color. Why would I be paying for 16 million colors because trust me, they don't add RGB for free on fans. Or do you like overpaying for things you don't even need?

Looks like I have no issue finding non rgb fans.

The non rgb products are not hard to find. You haters need to stop bitching about shit that doesnt really affect you.

Oh rly? Try buying a case. That doesn't come preloaded with stupid RGB. In fact try finding a good case that has no windows and stupid RGB. To our luck there are few companies like BeQuiet and Noctua (even though I hate their colors) who don't go with the RGB craze.

Yea the Vive is far better than GearVR. Also, the Knuckle controllers should be coming out soon. The cost of the Vive has come down, but you still need to account for the cost of the better headstrip. It's a must-have item for the Vive. It's much better than the OG strap and has Audio. Also, the new 2.0 base station are out now with the new Pro model. I think right now if I can offer any advice is that I would wait till the holiday season before buying to maybe get a better deal. I believe right now the Oculus Rift is a better deal with it having the touch controllers and all of the free games.

Also, everyone come over to our VR and AR section and check it out. We also have a VR clubhouse.

EDIT: Guys if you want to talk about RGB then create a new thread.

Should I keep going?

Just because you hate something or you think something is dumb, doesnt mean you need to knock it and bash it for other people like myself that do. Didnt your mom teach you that?

Make a new thread for RGB; last warning.

Seems to me that cases with RGB fans is still the exception, thankfully.

edit: Haha.. sorry about that mindweaver.. posted at the same time as you.

VR isn't going to die. I recently had my first experience with it and can definitely see its usefulness in specific settings. Just like any new technology, it needs time to overcome the cost barriers as well as time to mature.

I've got the original VIVE complete with Sim Rig and Triple Monitors. I actually prefer my triples over the VIVE only because It can get nauseating for me, which is a specific use case. But I've gotten better with the locomotion. I mainly prefer my VIVE for in-game experiences and teleport locomotion games. Works great and have no issues.
