Hey there, just a suggestion. I had someone PM me yesterday about a want to buy thread I had posted (nvidia vision glasses), the thing is this person just made their new account yesterday too... feels like a scam to me so I am not doing it. I reported the Private Message between us. Maybe we should not allow people access to view the sell thread until after a certain amount of time and posts? 500 posts and 6 months of usage maybe? Keep it a nice and reputable community of people who do not want to risk losing that respect amongst other sellers/buyers.
Just include terms in your thread, stating that you're only interested in doing business with reputable, or established members. I do it myself, and I realize I could take payment first and then send the item, but it's not only not getting paid that worries me ,but rather ,im more concerned with headache's, dealing with someone who's going to take delivery of an item ,then going to make some kind of drawn out "this was broken or that was this way" when it simply isnt true, it's just a headache that anybody who sells something can possibly run into, but I find the occurrences are greatly reduced when you only do business with people who are well-established, or more importantly, people who know what it is they are buying.
I can normally tell if someone's going to be a pain in the butt, based on certain interactions with them. I recently refused to sell to someone based on my contact with that person in private message. If someone starts asking really ridiculous questions that are very obvious, or things they should know, i can tell it's not worth my time. Basically I try to just sell to people who know what they're buying, I don't want to begin a relationship or some type of 20 questions scenario. I want to sell an item so it doesn't go to waste sitting on a shelf , and there are plenty of people who will eventually be interested in a given item in time who DO know what they are buying.
you can always see if the interested party has accounts on other tech sites, by asking for theyre other usernames
