Techmoan is a great channel. I especially love that outro with funky tech in operation.

Also if you want more history narration style one, my fav is RetroBytes.

ECS Motherboard KN1 Extreme (rev 1.0A) Socket 939 4 x 184-pin DDR SDRAM DIMMECS KN1 SLI Extreme ReviewI have just been to my local market one stall hard loads of unopened boxed motherboard and loads of other vintage computer parts. There was six boxed motherboards i did not know which ones to get ,i ended up getting these two .Sadly i have made a mistake on the Extreme one as it does not have the CPU or the heatsink Fan or the manual.:(They were just packing up i did not have enough time to have a good look.I have just looked it up and it is reviewed on the number one Tech site that is ours of course. :)I just looked it up on ebay only one on there opened not used just for £30 :( I thought it would go for a lot more than that.:( I should be able to get £15 on there.

I have just checked eBay for the price of a CPU for the
ECS Motherboard KN1 and this is the one in the Tech review
AMD Athlon 64 3000 ADA3000DAA4BW socket 939 CPU - venice core and it is only £5. :)I have just checked the other motherboard on eBay and am sad to say that is less desirable than the other one I got today.
PC CHIPS M870 V2.0 ATX Motherboard AHN2800BIX2AX Socket 754 CPU PC Computer £19 plus postage pre-owned no I/O shield. At least mine is ready to go I have lots of Ram. But it is not much better than my Athlon 2400. Mind you can't say much for £5. :)I thought more would like these two boards i got certainly a bargain :)

Just got these today. ABIT IS7-E v1.2, and a HIS X1950 Pro in dire need of TLC.

Making progress. Changed the Prescott HT 3.0GHz I initially had in there for a much cooler Northwood HT 2.8GHz - I don't think I necessarily need SSE3 (and I don't really know much apps that use it - feel free to name a few important apps that use it.)

That was another one that was there at the market ABIT and a socket 7 I should have got them. If I had enough money on me at the time I would. But I am happy with the two I got, more so with the socket 939.

it's too bent, and the plexiglass had to be removed as it was shattered beyond any salvation.
Replace it with a perspex off cut suitably trimmed to shape

Jetway V266B v3.0. VIA KT266. Appears one cap bulging in storage. Had an XP2400+ in it.

Abit BL7, intel 845 chipset, a Pentium 4 Northwood at 2.8GHz

Couldn't find perspex where I live, so went down at Leroy Merlin and bought a 50x50 plexiglass since it was cheap. Just gotta remove that S shape from the panel, sand it a lil' bit, cut the plexiglass to shape, then stick it to the panel.

what adata vitesta ram is that mr maxipro ?
the one with red pcb?

Standard Vitesta DDR500 512MB, p/n MDOHYBF3H47A0K1G0Z. Got them with a nF4 Ultra build.
They're not Extreme Edition sticks, but still kick ass :D

As for the silver sticks, they're PQI TURBO PQI3200-1024DPH - Samsung TCCD sticks (according to this thread), except they supposedly clock slightly better than Corsair XMS.

@droid-I What's the AC2001 chip for, controlling the two digit POST display?

I have been looking for a cheap 939 CPU under£10 on eBay
AMD Athlon 64 3500+ £6 tested working. Is the best one I can see on there in my price range. There are loads of AM2 ones. o_O

As blingy as the caps might be - replace them. Every single one. What you have there are GSC/Sacon capacitors disguised as fake OST. (OST never had silver caps)
Board has 0 voltage control so I don't really care about it. If I do caps I'd vmod as well and the board frankly doesn't deserve it... Already have IS7-E v1.2 so this is more of a curiosity.

Not really sure, I had some thought of it being an audio chip, Realtek/Avance Logic ALC201. The Abit TH7II used the same AC2001.

I once had Jetway motherboard with KT266 chipset. Which revision and exact model was, I don't remember anymore. But my brain remembers that this motherboard was slow because memory interleaving was off. There was no setting for it in bios. You had to use WPCREDIT tool to change PCI Configuration Register's to enable it.

The Soyo board unfortunately is limited to 232MHz max in BIOS but at least it can achieve it stock.

Does anyone use eBay on here I keep getting this message asking me to verify my account with my phone number I press verify they say they have sent me a code but they don't.

I have had the same phone number since I signed up for eBay.The only thing I can think is I don't have a Smart /I phone.
My email is fine.
I see from typing in this problem a lot of people are having the same problem. Only two stalls at the market today not surprising as it was a wet day today Hopefully it will be a better day tomorrow.:)

This heatsink Fan looks a lot better in design.:) I might try the way he has put the thermal paste, it looks very good.
:)Mind you the one I want to put on has no shroud on it. :( I managed to get it off :) I see it is a SEMPRON 2400.I have done it is a bad design :) .Weather or not it works is another thing, see 1389.o_O

Scored a rather neat and small 9800GT card that not only it does not require a PCI-E connector, but is also a "low profile" design - even the heatsink is slim.

Unfortunately, the original fan was broken, so I managed to ghetto rig the base and blades (with careful pliers action on a old 754/939/AM2 fan) from a AMD heatsink, and super-glued it to the plastic shroud after precisely aligning it. Higher CFM on the AMD fan (it was supposed to cool a 90nm CPU at the very least, so no wonder it's pretty loud) but at least it does a better job at cooling the 9800GT core, considering the slim heatsink used.

Test machine: A8N SLI, A64 3200+, 4x512MB DDR (2x ADATA Vitesta DDR500, 2x PQI Turbo PC3200), 420W Spire SP-ATX-420WTN-PFC "Jewel 420W". Didn't add a HDD since it's late in the night here and I'm a bit tired.

And the A8N SLI is finally rebuilt. I replaced the sticks with slightly mundane Kingmax and Sycron sticks, just because I had those being more stable at CL2.

I know, the caps on the secondary side are bursted. They're gonna be replaced, once I remove the heatsink first. For those curious of the OEM behind "Thor's hammer" as I like to call it, it's Topower. Of the most insane kind.

Whaddya think, would this be enough to power an totally nuts Prescott build?
