TSMC Faces $1 Billion Fine from US Government Over Shipments to Huawei

If TSMC are smart, they'll tell him to go eat a ketchup soaked well done steak after Fucking Off.
Wrong country mate, they'll ask him to go eat a bowl of:

TSMC cannot claim ignorance about what it was producing; Huawei's design is well-known, even if it was ordered through third parties. This situation is a lose-lose scenario—there’s no advantage being gained here. Instead of bolstering the US, it is straining global relations and undermining international trust in the dollar.

it's well known now, probably not back when they made them.
Besides that the US should stop this world police crap.

Yeah, pointless if such fines don't hurt, this is a slap on the wrist at most, if you want to give a good smack, perhaps try 100B? :)
There is a saying "Don't bite the hand that feeds you." ... so a slap might be ok.

What are you gonna do if they don't pay the fine? Stop buying their chips? Lol. TSMC are the ones holding the cards on this one.

He's not here stopping anyone here from discussion so that's a bunch of nonsense. I guess you missed my point.
You missed the point. I am saying that the discussions will not be productive because there is no long-term rationality you can expect from US policy at this point. It is all gangster bargaining so there is no point trying to tease out what principles are at play (aside from might is right).

You want to have pointless discussions, go right ahead, no one is stopping you, lol.

Posts removed & edited for politics, OT, and the usual.

When I say 'politics', I mean calling politicians offensive names, attacking nations, or a having a general political rant. Also, the OP isn't about tariffs - it's technically unrelated.

This is about a potential fine for breaking sanctions. Stay within the lines, please.

TSMC is a Taiwanese company. What do you mean US fines?? When did the US make the law in Taiwan??

The trade regulation includes any chips made with American technology

Jensen should know even better.

If purpose is to limit China's access to processing power, which is understandable goal, application of regulation seems weirdly "selective"...
No matter if not the latest and shiniest things, that's awfully lots of processing power.

Yeah, at this point when there were several clear statements that USA won't help if China decides to invade, with all the tariffs and penalties... Imagine the surprised Pikachu face when the complete Western World finds out we don't have the access to best and biggest semiconductor manufacturer any more...
We've already been blocked by China from recieving rare earth shipments critical to electronics assembly and manufacture, so that day is coming soon if nothing else happens.

Man watching the current global politics is more fun than PC gaming .

Meanwhile us sane ones just want off this ride, but I envy your positive attitude, if nothing else.

If this is too political, mods feel free to remove. I'll say no more.
