The U.S. Army might be financing one of the most epic videos games ever made that very few people may ever play. The "game" is called Dismounted Soldier Training System and was commissioned by the U.S. government back in May for a staggering cost of 57 million dollars. The contract was awarded to RealTime Immersive Inc. All of this according to PC Gamer. Everything about this simulator is said to be cutting edge but the hardware it runs on. In a GamePro interview with the director of strategic programs at Intelligent Decisions, Floyd West is said to have stated, "With CryEngine 3 being used for Crysis 2 and the capabilities that game engine provides, it allows us to make the most realistic simulation possible. We're able to transport soldiers to accurately recreated locales like Afghanistan and Iraq, where we can simulate everything from visuals to 360-degree sound."

The virtual reality headsets the trainees wear will run from a backpack unit similar to a top of the range gaming laptop, called the 'Man Wearable Unit'. "While the man wearable units aren't running on an off-the-shelf Alienware, the internal components themselves are commercial off-the-shelf CPUs and GPUs like NVIDIA graphic cards and whatnot."

As this is an internal military training simulator we the public may never play it. However that doesn't mean we cannot watch the trailers in awe and wonder if our own rigs could render thousands of kilometers in such massive detail.

Sweet looking game. Although....is it really a game? :wtf:

America's Army 4.0?

If they don't make this publicly available, then I hope it leaks.

America's Army 4.0?

Cant you read  this is training software for soldiers not some cheap crap like America's Army this would be like a simulation soldiers would play to get the most realistic simulation that can get, for 57 million dollars no it wont be made pubic and if it did every leak the US government would jump on it, So it doesn't fall into enemy hands.

Hissy fit ^_^

warcriminals being trained on eyefinity setups with moving foilage

Does it train you to stay calm and focused under enemy fire? I mean really, how can a game prepare you for a 5-mile insertion with 100 lbs on your back and the slightest pain?

Maybe with something like this, and a weighted backpack?

Um yeah I think you missed the point. Its to train for tactics. Boot camp is to train for a 5-mile insertion with 100 lbs on your back. This game is to show a plan of attack and execution of the plan. They used to use chalk boards to explain things like this to troops. Now they can "run though it" in a simulator. Savvy?

maybe the wearable eyefinity computer backpack they have to carry around weighs 100lbs ;)

Pfft...TOR cost over 100 million. And that was just for voice actors! :D

So worth it..weeee!!

Well that makes more sense now.

Will have to ask my command to give this a try!

Might end up like VBS1\2 as that's possible for public to buy now although ya might not like the price of the later version. Which both have been used for armys around the world.

Thinking they would of done the same thing to protect it and used USB flash device to check if your game is legal.

Those video's are really nice but you cannot really tell until you play it really. Anyways it's about time the Cry engine was tweaked for some realistic game play.

And if it did get released to public would it be as open as OFP\Arma\Arma2 is and let the community to do what they do best.

There's lots of things a like about the VBS engines and one is how ai flank ya ass to hell. Would be more really nice to see more games out there i love playing.

If terrorists will use IW engine, then US army is screwd!

Hope no ones suffers from PTSD and starts wiggin out. To some it don't take much to flip out.

Guys who suffer from PTSD don't need this trainer anyway. They have already lived the real deal. This is for noobs and colonels. Now some colonels may get hit with PTSD but usually if they made the rank of colonel they are "over" that hill.

it looks like they made crysis 2 proper for the army and gave us the tunnel vision version gits looks good though, and surely they will be allowed to reuse some of the IP and images etc in other games

im now expecting, call of d'crysis 3 too lol

Coooooooooooool, dam i am wating for it

Everyone walks like a handicapped doll in the trailers. Animation is no where near BF3.
