ive managed 850 core and 2200 memory on stock volts, gets me salavating just thinking of what can be acheived between my stock of 1.15V core to the max of over 2v :) :) :) :) oooooh... o_O

here is my advice. i dont have a ton of cash to constantly be upgrading my cpu/gpu/ram so im actually going to wait for the crysis demo to be released. then i will read up on the benchmarks for it and whatever card plays it at high settings above 30fps i will get!

Exactly that bench is almost 2 months old from Anandtech May 14th. Since then several drivers rev have come out for the 2900xt cards with those driver they beat 8800gts 640 mb cards almost in every bench. The one I posted was 4 days old. Also no need to get your panties in a bunch we are all friends here LOL.

if the 2900 gets ownd, fair do's, but we are after upto date, factual, current, unbiased info (unbiased i have difficulties with coz i just god damn lub ati) but yeah, if we all try to use the latest upto date benchies and results for comparisons, we can help peeps make the right choice for them, be it ati or Nvidia, i dont want to get sum1 onto ati just coz they work best for me, if nv does it for less and will suffice for their needs then that is what we shud say, but to do this we need current reliable data

Not true. You can only get condensation if the water temp goes below ambient(well, technically the dew point, which is always below ambient anyway), which is not possible without a water chiller of some sort. His card would be perfect for you, if it's in your price range.

Well for some reason he feels slighted if his card a 8800 gts isn't the fastest. We all know all of these cards from a x1900series,7900gtx,8800gts 320, 8800gts 640,8800 gtx to 2900xt 512mb/2900 1gig to ultra 8800 gtx are fast cards. All of them can run just about anything out. The 8800gts 640mb is a great card and compares great right now with 2900xt 512mb as does the 2900xt 1 gig ddr4 with a 8800gtx 768, but lets face it the difference between a Ultra 8800 gtx , 8800gtx and 2900xt 1gig ddr4 is not worth 300.00 or more. The Ultra is in the spend and be stupid range 690/ 700.00 dollars come on. It's a personel choice at this point between the 8800gts, 2900xts and the 8800gtx. the onlyb reason I bought a gtx is I got it for 442.00 dollars new in the box. Hey off the subject my Thermalright h03 plus is on the way. If it can cool my 8800gtx and get me to Ultra speed then the r600(2900xt) version would be a must buy

Trt740 i fail to see where you see that the X2900 beats the 8800GTS in almost every bench...I mostly see the X2900 coming ontop in Oblivion , Company Of Heroes , Prey, Call Of Juarez and Half Life while in the rest of the Games the 8800GTS comes ontop AND with better AA Image Quality which MAY get fixed in future updates but we are talking about a 7 month old card which can still p@wn X2900 butt in many benchmarks.
I hear all about drivers making a huge difference which i cant say i have seen ever since i got my 8800gts nor do we see a remarkable increase in FPS when it comes to older catalysts and new catalysts when it comes to the X2900. In september we will have the next card from Nvidia but the thing is that due to the fact that ATI Cant produce a good enough GPU ( Thats why they made the 1gb X2900 in order to calm the fans ) i think that Nvidia will have the next cards quite high in cost.

ok ok, now you are being stupid, why did u have to say that... i didnt want to think this but you are both ignorant and selectivly blind :(

you just quoted the 2900 coming on top of MOST hi end games.....

Qualify that statement. Are you a GPU designer? How do you know this? What, other than total fanboyism and complete refusal to accept that drivers makes a difference, leads you to that conclusion?

also, cant produce a good enuff gpu? it has a slower, MUCH slower shader clock, but due to ITS SUPERIOR architechture, still womps or matches the NV's offerings, cmon, surely you cant call that infirior?

put it this way, NV has basically (just an analogy) just attached more rockets to a car to make it go faster, where as ati has designed a new plasme propulsion unit that reaches the same or faster speeds yet uses more efficient and better tech (with ability to reach new thresholds for speed with further optomisations ), again, just a basic, very very basic analogy

also, cant produce a good enuff gpu? it has a slower, MUCH slower shader clock, but due to ITS SUPERIOR architechture, still womps or matches the NV's offerings, cmon, surely you cant call that infirior?

put it this way, NV has basically (just an analogy) just attached more rockets to a car to make it go faster, where as ati has designed a new plasme propulsion unit that reaches the same or faster speeds yet uses more efficient and better tech (with ability to reach new thresholds for speed with further optomisations ), again, just a basic, very very basic analogy

I agree the 2900xt has more potential right now, but the 8800gtx is no slouch for now or for the next year. The 8900 cards will be monsters you can bet on it shoot they have been working on it for years. Really all they have to do is add shader units. I think it's great that ATI has a competative card. It's great for us all.

hell yeah, the 8800 is awsome, ive never ever dissed it, just get annoyed when peeps cant accept that ati can offer something just as good, but in a different way, diff architecture etc, after all, almost every single comparison has beeen on dx9, which every1 knows the 8800 series likes to rape repeatidly then come for seconds, the 2900 likes to make sweet sweet love then have a hardcore romp in dx10 haha, just had to stick that bit in :p

Oblivion , Company Of Heroes , Prey, Call Of Juarez and Half Life 2 HI-END GAMES ????
Oblivion is almost 2 years old, so is Prey and Call Of Juarez, Half life 2 is 3 years old or something...And these are HI-END games ??? Jesus...
Also like i said 100 times the 8800 is 7 months older than the X2900XT....And in these 7 months more ATI managed to produce an card equal or even better than the low end 8800GTS version...So what is the entire fuzz about ???
The potential the X2900 has now is worthless ( IF it has any ) since it gets beaten easily from the 8800GTX/Ultra and by the time its potential gets used we will have the X3XX seires and the 9XXX series.
