So here's the deal:
I'm currently running a Ryzen 5 2600X,
on an ASUS ROG STRIX B450-F GAMING
and my RAM is the G.Skill DDR4 p/n F4-3000C15-8GRBB
I have purchased and received the motherboard because that's the one I want. MSI have been very very good to me, unlike others.
Now looking at the list of compatible RAM gives me a headache. I knew this was coming with DDR2, 3, 4, 5 ramping up the complexity of these parts, and here we are, with just a few compatible modules out of more hundreds of model numbers from each vendor.
I would prefer to just upgrade the CPU first and then the RAM or vice-versa, for budget reasons, but I don't think my existing RAM is compatible with the new motherboard and risks not working if I move my CPU to the new mobo keeping the same RAM? Or... Would it work? Conversely, this RAM would probably not work with the new Ryzen? Looking to get a Ryzen 9, but if I have to upgrade both the RAM and the CPU at the same time, I will have only enough for a Ryzen 7 5800X.
Any ideas how to solve this riddle?
