and what PSU required if I do CF??

4770's are getting rare.
better look at 4850.

600w or higher should be enough.

ps those cm extreme power are overrated.

I hate to say this ali because I'm all about video card upgrades but you better look at something greater. Just my .02

PS: In other words, save up a little bit longer. Stuff on the ATi side of things will come down in price a little bit here in the near future.

I was thinking 4870. And coming from a 9600GT IMO $76 doesn't justify. Now say if you were getting the 4850/GTS250 for $76 my tune would change greatly.

Of course it is but coming from a 9600GT doesn't warrant the upgrade enough.

EDIT: If he was coming from an 8600GT(S) or HD 2600XT then it would be a great upgrade.

I went from a 9600 GT to a 4850, noticed a great improvement in most games (now I can max out everything with decent FPS), and I didn't need a new power supply! My 500 watt generic is holding out a little longer...

me i wouldn't be too comfortable with a generic 500w powering a 4850.
i would be scared to play on it.

1600x900 is a weird res.

if you're happy with the 9600gt, might as well save for the new ati 5xxx series.

1600x900 is actually very very close to being cpu bound, although it is still a nice looking res to game at. Oh and don't worry about not having enough power for 4770 crossfire.

I also apologize for giving you greif, after I think about it 4770 would work out great.

when you look at benches for 1600x900 look at 1280x1024, the performance between those 2 resolutions is very close, not 1680x1050.

You might want to wait, a HD4770 is not gonna give enough of a boost over a 9600GT to justify upgrading at your res.

your psu isn't going handle crossfire i don't think and i think you should get a 4850 or wait for DX11 card,the 9600GT can do you fine until DX11 is released.

A good branded 460w might just be enough for 2x4770. 40nm uses less power.

but im not too familiar with the cm extreme power plus series.

4890 should be good...

at high @ 1280x1024
