The RX Vega 64 is on par for the most and beats out a 1080 on a lot of titles not too mention the article on undervolting and overclocking Vega which brings about a further 10% improvement and drastically reduces power consumption, unless I'm mistaken of course.

Sorta with the framerate, depends what you're playing, but it's still tends to lag the 1080 in TPU's review.

It kicks out so much heat and especially noise and consumes so much power to achieve this performance that it's not worth it in my book. The 1080 is just so much more elegant and the 3D features in the driver are probably still better (not checked). My non-FE Zotac 1080 (see specs) can barely be heard even when it's hammered with Furmark, for example. I doubt that a similar non-FE Vega will be as well behaved. The reviews will tell us for sure, but one can tell just from the amount of heat that Vega kicks out that it won't be as quiet.

Sapphire Vega 64 £469.99 is very tempting price,seeing as 56 is starting around that price at the moment. Would my XFX 650w be enough to run the 64 safely though?

V64 alone pulls about 320W off the walls on default VGA BIOS, 300W or so with Power Saving BIOS enabled. Your PSU should be able to handle it well.

I was going to do that aswell but looking at the "bundle" price for 56 reference card cost as much as 64 standalone reference at the moment which in my head sounds like better deal. That is of course you can undervolt and get better performance+efficiency aswell which will be bonus.
