video conversion software recommendation

Hi,

I have been using video proc to convert video formats and I was wonder if anyone knows of a better software? I could not find any reliable reviews on this. Videoproc does a good job but I want more control over options and is it possible to determine the file size in other software? Say if you wanted one at 4 gb.

I'm still using Nero 14 Platinum I bought 6 years ago for $24. Nero Recode is great. If you have an older version of Nero try it out.

I will try nero and some of the free stuff but I have used the free stuff and it is crap. Usually free software or open source can be good but it doesn't seem to be the case for video conversion software. I am not looking for pro, just to convert one video format to another with high quality and ideally control video size specifically. That way you could get the perfect balance between video quality and size. I put my videos on a ps3 so it has to be 4gb or less since its fat.

I did not like handbrake. I just downloaded it again, it is a bit too complicated in the options. I could learn more about the settings but I like software that is a mix between ease and complexity. Also you can't convert to as many video formats. I have to convert to h.264 or divx for my ps3. Divx if the file is too large for h.264

I downloaded nero video and it doesn't even seem to convert videos and in any case had alot of extra software included that was irrelevant. I will just stick with videoproc
